They still finished first in the west. Injuries like what happened to Russy was a bit unexpected. Yeah I get that you want to have Harden as a backup but the money plus the positions they had made it difficult. Ibaka fukking up is the big dissappointment.

houston.
They have Perry Jones, if brooks wasnt such a dumbass he woulda been getting minutes all year to develop into something. He might still become a decent center (which is all you need at that position nowadays).

On another note, how realistic would it be for presti to trade both their #1s this year for a 2014 lottery? Just something I thought about a couple days ago. Doubt anyone would do it but theres some dumb gms out there

Damn forgot Perry Jones was in the team :mindblown: haven't seen this nikka play this year

That was a flat out awful trade. The thunder were somewhat competitive with the heat in the finals last year. If harden plays well, they have a shot to win that series. Harden is too good to have another awful finals like that. Give that core 3 a few more years to get better and they're going to eventually beat the heat, maybe not this year but certainly within the next 3 years. You can find a guy that blocks shots and plays good help defense to come close to what ibaka gives you. You can't find a guy to give you close to what harden gives you...also, Kevin Martin is awful and those picks are going to be role players at best and non-factors at worst. Thunder really fukked up with that trade.

Exactly...its like the Heat releasing Chris Bosh to keep Udonis Haslem or some shyt :snoop:

Keep the main three intact, fill the rest of the team with whatever.

Exactly. You can always find role players and if your team's a perennial contender, they'll come for cheap too.

Lost in all the hoopla of poeple saying it was the right/wrong decision to trade Harden is the fact that he was still under contract for the rest of the year. They coulda rolled the dice and went all in for this season again.

For one, I think they'd still make the Finals with this same team, even if Westbrook was hurt. People love to point out his shytty play in the Finals last year, but were these same people saying Cleveland/Miami should trade LeBron after he was awful in his first two Finals appearances? :comeon:

Martin, a pick in an awful draft and the Mavs pick is pennies on the dollar for a talent like Harden. None of that shyt is gonna replace him. They coulda waited until this offseason to make a decision on him. Amnesty Perk and resign Harden; see how average Ibaka is, ship him out and keep Harden, etc. OKC mangled this situation, when it really wasn't that difficult of a decision.

Harden over Ibaka and it's not even close...especially the way the guards have been getting injured. It was due for Durant or Westbrook to get injured...Harden would be a good backup. Ibaka is nothing special...just a nikka that takes advantage of being a weak side defender. Keep the better player who is harder to replace...especially when these days most teams play small ball. Collinson is the best big man on their team regardless. :ehh:

It's weird unlike the Houston series the Thunder are back to playing good defense.

Perk, Ibaka, and Collison have done a good job keeping that frontcourt in check but once again they're missing a reliable second option. Jackson and Fisher playing well doesn't really move the meter for them. Brooks has adjusted the offense to go through Durant and he's doing a good job getting everyone involved. Wish he would get in the post a bit more though.

But really all they need is more consistent play from Kevin Martin and Ibaka and they are fine. Memphis is still offensively inept at times and they're really just winning based on defense and hustle right now. Series is far from over for OKC.

Why does the concept of the Thunder losing him in the off-season for NOTHING constantly elude you?

It was almost a guarantee a team would've offered him the max and the Thunder wouldn't be able to match and they would've got nothing in return.

ZERO.

People love to point out his shytty play in the Finals last year, but were these same people saying Cleveland/Miami should trade LeBron after he was awful in his first two Finals appearances? :comeon:

What kind of stupid comparison is this?

Lebron single handedly carried those Cavs teams to the finals and you wanna compare him to a bench third option that made it to the finals once? This is not nearly the same situation. Lebron proved himself as a #1 option, whereas Harden was no where near.

First of all, we can't quantify how Lamb and those picks will turn out - so we can't say that shyt will or won't replace him. They didn't mangle the situation, they did the best thing possible at the time; offer Harden a contract that didn't cripple them financially, and if he didn't accept, deal him before the deadline for x-amount, which would negate the risk of losing him in the off season if they kept him for the rest of the season.

MARTIN/LAMB/TWO DRAFT PICKS >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LOSING HIM FOR NOTHING.

i like lamb and the draft pick but kevin martin is :flabbynsick:

Funny, because I just saw Harden carry a garbage ass Rockets team to the playoffs in the West this year. :lupe:

One year of Martin, Lamb (who doesn't play and probably won't in the future because Brooks isn't going anywhere), and two low picks in a terrible draft (who also won't play because Brooks isn't going anywhere) is not better than keeping Harden for another year (or at least until the trade deadline) and "losing him for nothing."

We all see how mediocre Ibaka is and know he's overpaid. They coulda shipped his ass out and kept Harden instead, then signed someone like David West in the offseason.

I'm not gonna go back and forth with you because don't want to admit they botched this situation, so don't keep quoting me, because you won't get a response.

An 8th seed. They were a 9th seed last season. And you wanna compare this situation to Lebron who carried Big Z, Gooden, Hughes and Snow to the finals? lol

Harden followed that garbage ass Heat series he had with another this season against the Thunder.

:mindblown:

Lets just say for arguments sake that Lamb won't be used (which you are wrong about) and two low picks in a terrible draft (something else you are wrong about), all of that is still better than getting nothing in return. What you're saying is 'getting nothing in return is better than getting players/picks back". Which you know very well, is fukin stupid and you're just arguing for the sake arguing because you don't wanna admit you're wrong.

We all see how mediocre Ibaka is and know he's overpaid. They coulda shipped his ass out and kept Harden instead, then signed someone like David West in the offseason.

No, no, no. They were never gonna offer Harden what the market dictated. A max contract for a wing player (where they already had two elite wings) that only provided 16/17 points per game and didn't start, is idiotic.

I'm not gonna go back and forth with you because don't want to admit they botched this situation, so don't keep quoting me, because you won't get a response.

Because you can't admit you're wrong. Botching the situation would've been losing him in the offseason for nothing. Whether you want to acknowledge that or not, is up to you. But you're wrong, anybody with half a brain can see that.

Jones and Lamb not getting minutes this year was retarded, they could have thrown them out there against a gang of bad teams just so they can get minutes. That's why even though they have the Toronto pick, it's like will Brooks even play whoever they draft?

He says its not enough mins to go around then they get Fisher and let him get 15-20 mins a game:skip:

yea real :trash: when you choose ibaka over harden huh?

you do realize james harden played like shyt in the finals right?

you do realize that a serge ibaka type player is harder to find than someone who can do what harden did for okc right?

you do realize that if they kept harden and got rid of ibaka marc gasol/zach randolph would average a combined 60-65 ppg in this series right?

the harden trade was great....if memphis wouldnt have traded rudy gay to the raptors okc would have had the 6th pick in the draft this year.

It all still falls back on Durant. His game isn't there yet.
He hasn't learned to trust his team and to become a picky scorer.
He can get the same amount of victories and points playing 8 min less a game.
Him and Brooks are learning on the fly.
