NY, Cali, and everyone wasn't playing UGK, Outkast, or 3-6 Mafia? Jay-Z did a song with UGK 2 years before TI's first album dropped. :wtf:

Of course they're gonna name those producers. They're newish. That alone will get them mentioned before DJ Paul or Pimp C.

And no it ain't gonna sound the same....again, that shyt is 20ish years old. Kool G Rap and Raekwon rap about the exact same shyt, "Road To The Riches" sounds nothing like "10 Bricks" though.

Matter of fact, let's forget all that. Let's say you're right and they popularized trap, a subgenre of rap. Do you think that alone makes them legends? Legends....among the Ice Cube/Nas/Scarfaces of the world?

Fred.

Who said all legends are created equal?its like sayin Charles Barkley,Iverson,Ewing ain't llegends cuz they don't have rings like Kobe,Jordan,Magic,Bird.....nobodys putting those guys on that level as of yet,but they are still legendary status

Rarely is it that artists are called legends by the majority during their living careers

Trust me...nikkaz will be callin Wayn legendary a few years after he retires or dies because he impacted the tastes and lives of alot of people...sure,,u may not like his music but in discussions like these u have to be a bit more objective :manny:

Jeezy has 1 double plat, 1 gold, 2 plat albums and 2 gold group albums.
Tip has 1 double plat, 4 plat, 1 gold.

So T.I. has moved marginally more and Jeezy's career is 4 years shorter. So I'd not underestimate Jeezy's success even though it's not on Tips level.

And I don't know what you mean by Jeezy is somewhat relevant and T.I. relevant, Jeezy's album moved 700k and T.I. just passed 350k. His song of his mixtape is on the hot100..

I didn't underestimate Jeezy's success. The point I was trying to make is that it's pre-mature to label what he's done as legendary. In comparison to Wayne and T.I., Jeezy's easily #3 .

What I mean by somewhat relevant is this: since T.I. has been out, two of the biggest artists from Atlanta (Future and 2Chainz) and Jeezy himself had T.I. featured on their singles or remixes. True, Jeezy's album moved 700K, but that album is also 1 year and some change old. T.I.'s sold half and it just came out a couple of months ago.

Yeah I would say so. They were to the rise of Southern rap in the mid 2000s what Jay, Big and Nas were to the return of East Coast rap in the mid 90s.

Yes. They are all legends.

I don't see why nikkas are bringing up dudes fallin off/being relevant and their last couple of albums being good or not like Nas,Jay and Eminem don't have a few dents on their track record :mjpls:

Lil Wayne influenced this entire generation of new rappers including Big Sean,Drake,Wiz,Tyga etc..you can hear it in their delivery, voices etc..In his prime he was an absolute monster: SQAD,Carter 1,Carter 3 Seessions,Dedication series,Drought 3,No Ceilings,Carter 2>>>>

Jeezy made trap music popular, with TOD and TM101, he laid down the ATL kingpin rapper blueprint before anybody did it. From 2005-2008 one of the strongest catalogs of any rapper from this generation.

TI is one of the best lyrical rappers to ever live period, he can end careers, tell stories, make shyt for the women, dope boy shyt...you name it, probably the most well rounded rapper aside from Hov. He's outrapped Jay-z,Lupe,Eminem and a prime Lil Wayne and has a mean catalog Trap Musik to Paper Trail.

This is the Jay,Nas,Biggie of the last generation.

Good post. As said, without Wayne, there's no Drake, Wiz, Asap, 2 Chainz, etc and without Jeezy, there's no Yo Gottis and even Rick Ross. And T.I took that trap shyt worldwide. Regardless of the quality of the music over the past 3 or 4 years, these 3's (and Kanye's) influence is all over the industry right now. I'd even say Drake but he got popular from being a Weezy and Yeezy hybrid....

i got jeezy in ma top 5, jeezy got more anthems than every single one of your favorite artists. also jeezy has consistently improved from trap or die

i don't think he's better than say a nas or hov, but he's got just enough songs i feel are dope

T.I. and Jeezy are only legendary southern rappers of the modern post 2000 era, and i can see em as the yin and the yang to each other. T.I. is the drawn out, tries to be overly verbose and rides beats smoothly, while jeezy gets you hype and has that ridin music

do T.I. and jeezy even have any wack collaborations (don't say undertaker :birdman:)

I don't think they're legends AS MUCH as ANY MC ever. I think Rakim is in a class of legends that Tip, Jeezy, and Wayne aren't in. Same goes for Jay, Nas, , Pac, and Biggie, and some other rappers in that highest rung of important/influential/groundbreaking mcs.

But T.I. and Wayne have accomplished a lot in their own right. They've each had moments where they were the hottest mc in the game and they've made a big impact on rap in the 2000s. Classic songs. Classic albums. And outside of Scarface, what other southern solo rappers have their longevity, commercial success, and classic songs? One or both of them may very well belong on the Southern rap Mt. Rushmore one day. I just can't call them legends, at least not yet. We need more time to evaluate their resumes. It's like sports. You need 5 years before you'r eligible for the Hall of Fame. Let's give it time.

Notice that I've excluded Jeezy. I think he's a few notches below them. Great catalogue, but he's not a great rapper and I don't think I can ever see myself calling him a legend.

Wow this board can really be a riot sometime. All 3 of those artists going to go down as LEGENDS. TI, Jeezy, 50, Wayne, Kanye (hell may even throw Camron in there) were the hiphop/rap heavyweights of the 2000s. Say what you want about their careers now but they carried the torch and put out dope HIGHLY REGARDED music with ACCOMPANYING record sales to back it. Yeah they may not be better than Jay, Nas, Pac, Big but honestly you have to let that go and respect them for what they've done because idk if we're ever gonna get another Jay, Nas, Pac, Big

CrimsonTider's batting average in terms of good threads is fukking terrible as always I see. :pachaha:

I'm not sure about being legends, but their longevity (10 yrs plus) and their influence (Trap rap) is noteable.

Of course this only applies to Jeezy and TI imo...Wayne could have been there, but nah.

TI yes. Jeezy no. As much as I hate to admit it, because his music is trash city, Wayne yes because he appeals to stupid people and people who only care about swag and fake skateboarding and people who drink lean.

Same dudes will quickly throw Camron,DMX,Pun,Kurupt in legend discussions but :childplease: at the thought of these 3...no knock on those dudes I named,id say they are legends but sum of they resumes is weaker than jeezy,ti,wayne.
