Okay, just my two pence; The media attack is calculated and many want to see him fail but the price needs to be dropped. I've just installed it on my phone and before I can even start my free trial the app is requesting my card/PayPal details! Honestly, I just deleted it on the spot cuh I don't trust such strategies from anybody! Now if they didn't ask for my details then I would have gone with it and then made a decision later based on the performance of the app.

For the launch they used the wrong acts for the type of message they were trying to sell.

It was not a good post. @Data-Hawk had truth sprinkled with a bunch of other unrelated stuff. I always hate when guys like that post because he's a smart cat (despite the fact that I disagree with him on a lot of things), but he allows other people who blindly hate to cling onto him for legitimacy. 98% of Tidal haters on here could not have articulated or pointed to what he said. Furthermore, why would people be defending Tidal the service in here when the argument is about the coverage of the service. People like @Malta are missing the entire point and that was in my first post in the thread.
Aside from that, Tidal has laid out what it does a bunch of times, but people in the media do not care. They're still telling you it costs 20 dollars per month. Have you noticed that very artist besides random euro bands has said Tidal is a good idea, but they don't know if it will work?

even though his product has no clear advantage over its competition (and actually has flaws compared to them) whether it be in terms of price or functionality


the poor and rushed product design, coupled with the horrible first impression via advertisement is just icing on the cake for the "haters"


like has already been mentioned, anybody that jumps into a pool with a bunch of established sharks is going to get attacked. Jay just sped that process up by putting his face (and other rich faces) out there so the public (and rival corporations) had something to attach to the product. He was betting that he would draw people in by putting out recognizable faces and it backfired

and thats not even going into Jays tactics to try and play on black peoples emotions and consciousness to guilt them into buying his product

edit: he would have been better served stepping away from the limelight and just trying to have the product win on its own but its too late for that now. he bet on his image (and kanye and madonna, etc) getting people to throw their money at him and now he's struggling to stay afloat in the PR game

I was never a big fan of jay, still don't care for him much, but there's obviously been a planned out smear campaign against his efforts with tidal and I'm pretty sure interscope and apple are funding it.

And there not doing a good job of hiding it considering there were articles slamming real as a failure almost immediately after it was launched.

At the same time, the launch itself was poorly thought out marketing wise, and the prices are simply way to high.

I respect jay for what he was trying to do but he, sheeeeiiit, anyone who's black in amerikka need to understand that they have to work twice as hard as whites to gain the same level of success and but seems like jay has gotten so comfortable in his plush life that he forgot this critical lesson.

I don't like tidal the way it is now with the prices and the horrible way it was marketed promoted, and I'm not gonna pay for that shyt. But aside from that I truly hope it's successful.

in this case first impression was everything

they tried to play the social media game which is smart. they had stans changing their twitter avis and facebook pictures to tidal blue and everything. they had people hyped up for a big press event. and then they had what you pictured above.

there were already people like :patrice: and then when you have Jay smiling around a table talking about how this is about putting the power back in the hands of artist (as he is surrounded by some of the most powerful artists in the world) you are in for a world of public relations hurt.

that coupled with the quick spread on social media of how the product was lack luster was just the death blow.

he's trying to stay strong with the concerts and stuff but honestly he may just want to step back, remodel, and bring it back later without his face all over the product. if the product is good people will buy
