But who cares? That's what makes this era in time so lovely, we don't need to deal with them anymore to decide to buy a product, we can go see for ourselves because everything is so direct to consumer now. That's why all this media bashing is funny, no one cares. If they want it, they will go get it, if they don't, they won't. Because the world is so big, Jay doesn't have to do Spotify numbers to make a profit, just get the fans themselves to see if they want it, and because it isn't a self service(other artists use the service) it can get real big with just the right amount of artist pushing it, and some clever campaigns to get people to subscribe.

I will always say if beats by dre sold so many headphones, and they were straight garbage for the price, anything can be done.

Exactly. If the people like the product they will buy it, if it ain't up to par yet, go back in and make it better. They gon smear dude, that's business, but they can't stop him if he don't let them. His target demographic that he wants to buy Tidal subscriptions aren't giving a fukk about what these other companies sayin about him, they not feelin the product like that yet that's why the numbers are low. Don't mean it's over tho

You got c00ns negging me but buy Apple Samsung products that is the same more than Tidal. You got Spotify getting 400 million in free money from Old Rich Cacs who would spit in your mom face.

Keep falling for that cac hype and yall wonder why blacks don't own shyt in music or any fukking thing in America. This shyt is bigger than rap.

Dudes disgust me man.

Those that say they don't wanna support Jay because "they don't wanna make him rich" is similar to saying "I don't hate Obama because he's black, I hate his policies":skip:

What that article is leaving out, which is real big to me, is Spotify, and Pandora, rely on ads mostly for revenue. Most of their subscribers are free users. Tidal is from subscribers. I don't doubt ads bring in revenue also, but that isn't the main source. So, Spotify, and Pandora may have more subscribers, but if for some reason companies pull ads, they are up shyts creek. I would hate to run a company that is basically owned by another corporation because they dictate if you will stay around by giving or not giving you money. Its all about the years down the line, not just what is hot for a few years.

The biggest winner in this shyt is Sean Parker. He cofounded Napster which essentially was the beginning of the collapse of the music industry which now currently has everybody fighting for pennies and scraps while he went on to start Facebook and cash out to the tune of $2.4 billion :win: Does he care that he fukked up thousands of people's careers and livelihoods? No :russ:

Yall need to stop making this about race. Jay-Z released an inferior product. He's a hustler. He should know better. There are cheaper options and there are free options. Why would anyone pay more when they can get the same thing for less. The white man holding him back though. Was the white man holding him back when he made the deal with Samsung :russ: Was the white man holding him back when he made the deal with Live Nation or Universal Def Jam to push Dame and Biggs out :russ: I read up on the Spotify founders years ago. The founder only had $1 million cash to start with. That's it. Jay-Z is worth half a Billion dollars. Jay could have started Spotify himself, if he had the vision to do so. He wouldn't have had to seek outside investors for a Series A, B, C or whatever because he's worth half a Billion dollars. White boys in Silicon Valley are starting billion dollar companies out of garages with $100,000...$200,000. The white power structure isn't holding Jay-Z back. He just lost this time.

Breh, the $250 mil being quoted came from financial analysts but its a guesstimate. If Jay and his people put this company up for sale tomorrow would they get that much for it you think? Perhaps from Apple or Google just to shut down on some WWF buying WCW in 2001 shyt, but that's it. The brand has taken a tremendous hit, no one can deny that.

NOPE

#TidaLost currently has 770K subscribers. at $10-$20 a pop, that 7.7M-15M in revenue. 60% of that is going to the artists...we're not even talking about profits here. just revenue. He paid 52 mil...his profits are under 5 mil right now...

he's definitely in the red so far, that's why ol' boy releasing concerts and shyt
The service has been here for a month in its current form, were you expecting it to get 10 million subscribers in a month like the biggest and best streaming service Spotify has accumulated over 10 years? :dead:

And your math is horrible, 770K * 10*12 != 7.7M, it's 7.7M*12.
So in its first year it'll probably do a minimum of 100 million and Jay will probably earn more from one concert. In 10-15 years though, that's what's interesting. Will Tidal make him a billionaire?

What happens to the business when 100-200 million cats are streaming? The number is already at around 20 million and exponentially increasing. That's 12-24 billion per year, say that Apple and Spotify claims 80-90% of that and the other 10-20 is Tidal and Google, that's still 1.2-2.4B's. That's an extremely hypothetical example but the point is that people make investments for the future, it's not crack slinging.
