The same nikkas talking about "5>4" spent the better part of the last 4 years telling me that Jordan's 6 didn't make him better than Kobe. You flip floppin ass nikkas

LOL @Malta shamelessly dapping up everyone who puts Duncan over Kobe no matter how shytty the article or the Kobe-hating poster haha. I'm not even mad :timmy:
What about 2008? WCF. It was Game 1, 3rd quarter, SPurs are up 65-45. And what happens next?

In 09, Ginobili got hurt at the end of season and missed round 1 of the playoffs. In 2011, Duncan had injuries to his knee and both ankles and played through them quietly and Ginobili missed game 1 and played the rest of the series with a broken arm.
No shame in losing to OKC last year. They were a very good team and just better.
It's not like they got swept by a 3 seed in the 2nd round or anything.

But they got swept by the Suns a few years back and Dragic destroyed your squad.![]()

cause in reality 2nd fiddle player average 37ppg in the WCF
name 1 second-fiddle player that averaged 30ppg in a playoff series.
Kobe groupies are allergic to reality
Only time ive seen Duncan without pop as head coach was when him and bron led US to BRONZE medal and dude quickly quit on international play. Took Kobe to bring the US back to respectability and for that Duncan can never be ahead of Kobe. Lets not act like international play didnt expose TD
and both of those guys are supposedly better than Kobe all time.

Then 2008 came and
our great nation back to #1Only time ive seen Duncan without pop as head coach was when him and bron led US to BRONZE medal and dude quickly quit on international play. Duncan was top 5 from 99 (I'll say 98 without thinking about it too much, but this has a high chance of being wrong) until 08.
Kobe has been top 5 from 2001 until the present. So his period of being dominant has been longer. He's also had to drag much worse teams than Duncan into the playoffs and durability also plays in his favor. Kobe has been better for the second half of their careers and Duncan was better for the first half. Given that consistency, and the fact that he remains top 5, and a first-teamer while having much more competition than Duncan has at his (while failing to make the first team for awhile there), I'd give the nod to Kobe.
But I won't pretend that with this toss up that I won't side with Kobe more often than not. But I can't just sit here and ignore that Kobe has not had Duncan's luxury of playing reduced minutes at his advanced age.
What does 1 game mean in the NBA? Nothing. If you're starting a franchise and you have a choice between these 2 at 21 years old, you obviously take Duncan. Kobe is the 3rd best player post-Mike, and that's damn impressive. To win you one game, both at their primes the logical choice is Kobe. You're lying to yourself if you're choosing Duncan. Y'all damn well know Kobe could slow down the opposing teams best player and also come back on offense and give you 30+.
Plus if the game is close you know he has that clutch factor too.
Duncan is a good player but benefits from playing in a system where the ball is run through the post and and has an excellent coach. Kobe was great playing within the system Phil ran but was also great playing outside of it at times when the championship teams he played on were struggling down the stretch of key games.
Kobe is the more versatile player and brings more to the table. Kobe> Duncan
Kobe is the best player post Michael, please let's stop all this revisionist bullshyt.
