You should ignore that stat period. In 02-03 he was playing 39 MPG and this year he is barely playing 30. That stat is stupid because Duncan is not capable of playing those 36 MPG for 82 games without breaking down. He's efficient precisely because Pop has managed his minutes. It's just terrible way or arguing that Duncan is supposedly giving you the same production that he did a decade ago when it's clearly not the case, and his responsibility and pressure is not remotely comparable.

Nah that's just speculative bullshyt you're making up. But how do you know he can't play 35+ minutes a game anymore? You don't. Pop manages his minutes because that's what you're supposed to do with an aging player with a recent history of nagging injuries. That's what your team's dumb ass coach should've been doing with Kobe and who knows, maybe he'd still have an intact achilles tendon.

And no is saying Duncan is just as good now as he was in 03. But regardless, having identical stats per 36 minutes at age 37 as you did when you were 27 and leading a team to a ring is quite remarkable. Shaq, Robinson, Ewing, or Olajuwon didn't come close to that. Saying "you should ignore that stat period" is idiotic. If it's so meaningless, then why can't anyone else do it?

You know why Duncan is playing so well this year? Because he got in better shape than he's been in years. He lost 20 lbs, hit the weight room hard and started eating right for the first time ever. He ate junk food his whole life even when he was beasting in his youth. You can see even see the difference in his muscle tone. And he's finally free of his nagging knee and ankles issues. If anything, you can knock him for not taking his conditioning as seriously as he does now earlier in his career.

They make the playoffs. But let's not change the subject. In 03, Duncan won with less help than Kobe ever won with. Kobe always had a top 5 big man when he won. Duncan won with a team full of role players...not one other all star.

Big deal. You act like Duncans teams were constructed with scrubs from top to bottom. The part you fags love to overlook is that the SA organization is first class in terms of scouting, drafting, and getting players to fit into the concept of team. You act like Bruce Bowen wasn't consistently one of the better defensive players year after year. You're gonna act like the Spurs don't construct their team with role specialists. You sit here and pretend that team defense isn't important. You make too much of the names on the players rather than what the player is capable of doing. You pretend that just because a player was a rookie or 2nd year player, that they weren't good or had an impact.

Riddle me this, if Tim Duncan is so great, led his team to the playoffs every year, even as the number 1 seed, how did they lose to the number 8 seed? Why does he have less finals appearances than Kobe?

Tim Duncan: a better postseason performer overall, and his numbers actually jump up during the playoffs; Kobe's overall numbers are worse than Duncan's, and his playoff numbers are worse than his regular season numbers. Timmy has 4 playoffs triple doubles as a big man, and a near quadruple double; Kobe has zero playoff triple doubles, and shoots 40.7% from the floor in the finals for his career.

:leon:

When the stakes get raised, Timmy is simply a more graceful, poised, intelligent, empathetic player and human being.

Raja Bell clotheslined c00nbe, "black mamba" did nothing, then c00nbe ended up begging Raja to be on his team a few years later and Raja still was like "nah, I'm good bytch nikka."

Zach Randolph gets dispatched in 4 games by a 37 year old Duncan, and all he can do after is tell Timmy how much he admires him.

:wow:

Tim stands alone as the only true GAWD in the NBA

Thanks for the flattering words about my favorite team, but my point still stands. Duncan won a ring with a team with a bunch of role players and no other all stars and less help than Kobe ever had on any of his rings.

You can talk about what good of an organization the Spurs are, and how instrumental Bruce Bowen was (lol), and perhaps imagine some hypothetical scenario in which Kobe plays for some other good organization with no other all stars and wins the championship. But Duncan did that.

Riddle me this, if Tim Duncan is so great, led his team to the playoffs every year, even as the number 1 seed, how did they lose to the number 8 seed?

Because Duncan played quietly through two ankle injuries and a knee injury and kept his mouth shut about it, Ginobili missed game 1 which they lost and played the rest of the series with a broken arm, Memphis had one of the best records in the league and were one of the best records in the league since February and they would've been a 6 if they didn't tank to play the wounded Spurs, and the Grizzlies had two top big men going against a hobbled Duncan, a pushing 40 McDies, and 6'6" Dejuan Blair.

It was a perfect storm of injuries and playing a bad matchup against 8th seed that was really probably the 3rd or 4th best team in the west that year.

Why does he have less finals appearances than Kobe?

Because he didn't play with Shaq.

No, he mostly abused McDyess and Blair. Tim was hobbled and Manu was out. Tim was healthy this time around, and had Zach talking about how he sees Tim as a model of who he wants to be on and off the court. That's simply a fact, don't be upset by it.

Raja clothelined c00nbe and the only thing that happened was he tried to recruit Raja to join his team. What kind of man rapes, snitches, sues his own mom, and gets roughed up by the Raja Bells and Chris Childs of the world? It's actually sad.

Kobe fans, dont be upset about this. Duncan is arguably the GOAT PF ever. These guys are the epitome of what it means to be NBA superstar. At the end of the day, you cant go wrong with either. Just be happy we got to watch these dudes in their primes, instead of worrying so hard about ranking them one above each other

Ewing at 37 per 36 minutes: 16.4 pts, 10.7 rebs, 1.0 asts, 1.5 blks

Olajuwon at 37 per 36 minutes: 15.6 points, 9.4 rebs, 2.1 asts, 2.4 blks

Shaq at 37 per 36 minutes: 18.5 pts, 10.3 rebs, 0.4 asts, 1.8 blks

Kevin Garnett, not even 37 yet, but at 36 per 36 minutes: 17.9 pts, 9.4 rebs, 2.8 asts, 1.1 blks

Duncan at 37 per 36 minutes: 21.3 pts, 11.9 rebs, 3.2 asts, 3.2 blks

But according to BarNone, that is a stupid stat that should be ignored and Duncan is only still that effective because his minutes are limited. :heh:

Kobe raped someone? I thought you were light skin not white. :heh:

How about when KG smacked the shyt out of Tim and all Tim did was turn around and say HEY MISTER! that's not polite!

KG the euro picker hoed the shyt out of Duncan. :laff:

and isn't that the same knee he tore his meniscus (left knee) in 2000 and had to miss the playoffs?
