You sound like an idiot. I was around to see the changes since the mid 80's and people did look at high end equipment as stunting. I remember when only a few people could get CDs because CD players were expensive, and if you had a CD player, you were the shyt. The same for laserdisc. The same for vhs.

All you are doing is coming up with theories, I actually been around these people and saw how people reacted when they experienced high end stuff that they couldn't afford. As soon as they got money, they did exactly what the wealthy people did. shyt is no different now. Keep making up shyt to feel good about yourself, or "win" an argument with a lot of daps.

Again, it isn't just having Tidal, its the whole set up. Learn how to read.
I remember bold too esp things like laserdisc and CDs when they first dropped. Back in the 90's most dudes first CD player was the first playstation lol.

Its not meant to be a mass desire, its meant to be a luxury, which is why its called a luxury brand. Maybe you need to know what luxury means:

http://i.word.com/idictionary/luxury
lux·u·ry

\ˈlək-sh(ə-)rē, -zh(ə-)rē\noun
: a condition or situation of great comfort, ease, and wealth

: something that is expensive and not necessary

: something that is helpful or welcome and that is not usually or always available
Luxury BRANDS (not the fukking word luxury) become luxury brands
1) due to exclusivity (whether thru quantity or prohibitive price) and
2) through the reverence/value imparted upon it

A Benz, Maserati, BMW, aston martin....those are mass desires, a large contingency of society lust after high end cars, even tho they can't afford them or they can get equal utility thru cars such as ford, honda, etc. Those cars elude to wealth and status. High end audio has not built that market, the entire point I've been making in response to you acting like tidal can become some luxury/exclusive brand

This is exactly why it's not going to work breh....and on top of that, It's not luxury.

Like i said earlier, how are you gonna stunt with Tidal?....it's not even like owning a rare vinyl edition of somebodys album.
Its not by itself, but when you show off the speakers, the amp, etc, and then have someone who uses Spotify, or google, use tidal to find what they want, then they hear how it sounds, it will be you stunting on them because they have none of the shyt, and it sounds way better then theirs. Again, its the whole setup, not just tidal by itself.

For example, if someone buys a rich watch but everything else is regular, the watch means very little. But, if you wear the same watch with some nice shoes, nice clothes, and a luxury car, the watch adds to you stunting on these hoes. People just don't understand this. That's why I laugh when I see cats with expensive shoes or watches, and don't have everything else, they are showing they really dont have shyt. That ain't stunting, thats fronting.

Exposure :manny:

Using well known artists as the face of this project will bring more exposure.

People wouldnt care if jay brought out the likes of kaytranada, cashmere cat, broods, asap, fka twigs for example.

Indie and unsigned acts will benefit more from this as they have no middle man taking a cut from their money

But isn't the point to give the artist money included lesser known ones? Their just giving it to Jay -z and friends It's no difference. I think it does go against the brand aspirations of "rewarding artistry".
Are they trying to do like a green bay packer model where every artist has an opportunity own a small share? I'm really not understanding the benefits for indie artist.

And then what happen if exposure eventually runs it course? The internet really be flash and pan, how will they keep the audience interested?

How on God's green earth do you not consider dropping 300$ on headphones not a luxury?!?! The reason there is no tier above that is because they are already taking motherfukkers to the bank charging 300$ for Beats. What I am trying to tell you is that the equipment people ACTUALLY USE to create music often costs LESS that the consumer shyt they're scamming you with.
shyt, I've seen $1000 headphones a few months back when I wanted to know which "high end headphones" sound best, many of them professional brands, dudes are sitting here acting like the average consumer cares about brands/equipment at that level. They don't because caring about that level of performance is not valued outside of professionals or aficionados.

Yes, lawd! :banderas:

Jay-Z (and that wife of his) is an out-of-touch snake to me and I'm not going to be rooting for his success just because he's black.

He's not that business savvy. He only receives that they choose to give him.

I mean, he owns nothing outright. RocNation is a LiveNation product, essentially. He doesn't own the Nets and is merely the team's mascot. And only owns like 3% of this.

The facts don't back up the image he's trying to project.

A Benz ain't a label slapped on a Hyundai, lol. 4 wheel drive, the technology, the handling on back roads, more airbags, plus creature comforts is a selling point...not to mention the design/style. A Benz, Beamer, Audi etc luxury brands are down right better cars; it's not simply a label.

Clothes are simply a label because it does the same function be it target or nordstroms. Luxury cars actually function different than the standard cars. Levi's function the same as $300 jeans...period.
Nah my dude the name is the selling point for the most part. Everything these luxury cars have the lower tier cars mostly have albeit usually not as good/quality as the luxury version. Clothes are the same way so don't know what your talking about they the same the things from target or nordstroms. Sounds like somebody has never wore nicer clothes before lol.

how when they don't need tidal for high quality audio? That's your disconnect, ok, you have hi fi streaming, but here's my record collection, my cd's, my all flacc everything playlist...tidal doesn't provide access to something you can't get otherwise, it's just another way to access it. It's like you showing me hulu when I have cable...we can get the same content just from different avenues.

Where are they going to get CD quality music, and can choose over 20 million songs anytime they want?

I am always putting people on to new music or shyt they never heard, you might not have what I play for you.

You would be right, if Beat's original marketing campaign hadn't gone at exactly what you're saying people don't give a fukk about-->

"Beats' original product line were Beats by Dr. Dre headphones. In promotional materials, Dr. Dre outlined the line's advantages by alleging that listeners were not able to hear "all" of the music with most headphones, and that Beats would allow people to "hear what the artists hear, and listen to the music the way they should: the way I do.""

Jay Z didn't pull this idea out of his ass, its the EXACT fukkING MODEL that beats used to dominate the market.

Yeah, you remember. PlayStation was a lot people first CD player. Damn, I forgot about that:mjlol:

No the fukk it wasn't.

Being able to double as a CD player, was a great selling point for it.

"My first CD player was a $299 Sony Playstation in 1994" , do you know how fukking silly that sounds?

I don't care how it sounds, it is the truth. Why do you think mix CD's only started coming out in 1995/1996, while CDs themselves were available since 1988? Its because a lot of people couldn't afford CD players, at least blacks, Asians, and Latins.
