disregarding will smith, he's definitely the biggest rap superstar of all time. movies, albums...

Aside from a legendary rap career, LL had his own NBC sitcom, has countless movies under his belt, has hosted The Grammys twice, and has been on that CSI show for like half a decade at LEAST. He more likely got that 2nd spot locked.

X was getting more into acting I think rather than he fell off. The money in Hollywood is ridiculous- his wife in her interview with the Breakfast Club sad he got paid 10 million each for Cradle 2 the Grave and Never Die Alone :ehh:

You think so?he showed signs of weakness before the movies even became big for em....In my opinion he regressed big time on And Then There was X,which is fine, everybody is allowed a dud,and his first two projects he had a classic and near classic....But being that he never recoevered, that's the point in which he fell off in my eyes.....and those first two albums I think came out the same year:mjlol:....Dude had a hot year and never recovered so to see people overate him is just:scust:

Meanwhile nobody gives Cube or LL a pass when they was ACTUALLY doing movies and tv shows....not only should we be talking about the fact DMX fell off,we should be talkin bout how quick that nikka fell off:dahell:

Im just talking music,i fukked with his movies heavy, but I don't think that's factoring into this discussion.

I don't really think you can say he "fell off" with "And Then There was X". Maybe quality-wise but that's still his best selling album to date. 2 multi-platinum classic albums in the same year is crazy- that alone cements him as a legend. Add a couple classic features and cultural impact and I think it shouldn't even be debated. shyt, thugs were crying at his concerts. His music really connected with people in a way that hadn't been seen from a major artist since Pac.

We all know the real reason DMX "fell off" creatively- drugs. It's unfortunate because he was truly a great artist.

Pretty much. Its like some cats bend the rules for the likes of DMX and the LOX on their accomplishments. Its OK to have a personal favorite, but another thing to enforce it as the norm and downplay other MCs that did it and not have a massive fall off.

He made a song called What These bytches Want... X was always a fiend and always was reckless. It wasn't until he stepped away from the game everything fell apart.

fukk. I really want to go with this one. I love X, but I can't do it.

Musically, Hell Is Hot a classic. That shyt might be the best street album ever. The production is raw. Everything about it is tough. You can say Flesh of My Flesh is a personal classic. Anything beyond that is reaching. The Swizz production all over Flesh of My Flesh is hard to listen to now. It's a step down from Hell Is Hot, and a lot of "hip hop purists" would probably give Hell is Hot 4.5 mics instead of 5. I disagree with that, and I'd give it 5 for sure.

By commercial/overall status and success, you can also say that his first 2 are classics. I think he's still the only hip-hop act to drop two #1 Billboard chart albums in a calendar year and have both go platinum. Plus he blew the doors off the shiny suit era, brought the LOX over, etc. The Ruff Ryders and Cash Money your was huge. The Hard Knock Life Tour was huge. You could even reach and say he never fell off until after three albums. But everything after And Then There Was X is pretty bad, unless you're literally one of his biggest fans. Like, posters all over your walls level fan.

I don't think it's a coincidence that his career and also life fell off at the same time. Drugs ruin people, and I hope he's good.

I try my hardest to understand exactly what DMX did that 50 cent didn't do and I cant:patrice:? I can only guess people connected to X music on a emotional level cuz he made deep music...but as far as a run I would say they run was about the same commericially for me.....and if you count 50's mixtape days lowkey he got the advantage....yet I see people try to downplay what he did all the time:heh:.

Yeah I remember what X helped do when we was in the shiny suit era,and i know he's a person who you wanna root for,but cut it out yall:pachaha:...I'd rather be facing drug addiction and movies than what 50 was up against....plenty of classics have been made while on drugs, and as many have said dude may have never NOT been on drugs.

not a 50 stan by the way:whoa:,his career aint that great either but you cant hold up one and not the other.
