Beyond his rep how was he as a coach?

He will def be hired quickly.

I mean, it's all there. Helluva coach when he has a good cupboard to work with. Outcoached Belichick to send Tom to TB. Took a game off the Chiefs in the playoffs when he had no business in 2018 with Marcus Mariota . 1 score away from beating Bengals to play Rams in SB. Done had numerous reg season wins vs Bills, Chiefs and 49ers + more all while having the most injured team in the league for 2 years straight at one point.

The evidence is all there. His main "deficiencies" were probably his last CPL OC hires/promotions and he's just ultra conservative. Like if people thing analytics has swung the pendulum too far in one direction, then he's the exact opposite. No spice at all. Players love him tho. Will motivate the shyt outta guys and can help wit technique a lot having played.

I'm indifferent fr tho just cuz I wanna see us fully embrace the modern passing times. Or, if we are gonna run, do it creatively like McDaniel or Shanahan and not just count on the uniqueness + strength of 22 .

That's why I think they're OK with letting him walk, they want to grow Levis and that's not Vrabel's strong suit. They're definitely gonna look to bring in an offensive mind.

I don't understand why they didn't at least try to trade him to NE.

Most GMs want their own guys between the coach and QB. Ran already picked Levis & now he has to pick the best person to make sure that investment pans out

I think it works if you have good relationships with good, young OC talent. Vrabel is a leader of men type that will always have some pull in the NFL. Same reason why Aaron Glenn will likely get a HC job despite being a defense guy.

TB traded for Arians in 2019, that worked out. Why would you let a valuable asset you have under contract just walk for nothing? There's a reason Belichick hasn't been fired yet.

You have that backwards. He was kinda ass as a DC (I'd have to refer to @Spence and @Flex Luger more specifically tho) and actually much better in the CEO like head coach role lol
