They should’ve fired Bowles and promoted coen. He was the best HC on the staff. Same thing with Canales.

Bowles is a defensive coach whose defense gets destroyed versus QBs with a pulse and he don’t know shyt about offense.
They did that like 10 years ago and it was a disaster(fired Lovie Smith to promote Dirk Koetter).

I understand why they didn't do it again. Coen kinda did them dirty, tbh

Lovie was washed even then lol

Shoutout to him getting a third coaching job with the Texans ten years later though.

Not all money is good money. Should've went back to SF or waited for a team with a good QB to shoot your last HC bullet. Nobody wants to play for the Titans.

They Fired Mike Vrabel 2 years after winning Coach of the year, the gave him Mariotta and Tannehill and will Levis as his QBs.

Typically a two time loser doesn't get a third spin on the coaching carousel but I think the Jets situation is so completely toxic that other owners give guys a pass for not succeeding there. They're at the owners meetings, they know how fukked up Woody is

I think Steelers(Although they have no QB) or Ravens would've been a good match for him and either one of those teams. Flores and Saleh fit them perfectly. Both of them with a OC like Mike Mcdaniel or Kliff Kingsbury would make some noise.

But did those teams want him?

Saleh will be fine if the Titans stay patient. Ward had a solid rookie season, they will draft/sign some pieces and he'll shore up the defense. I think a lot of you don't realize what kind of sickness inhabits the Jets franchise. Don't judge any coach too harshly that has a chance with them. The offensive talent was like 2 players, the qb's mostly terrible, the offensive line was horrendous and there were major injuries.

Excited to see what he do with Big Jefe. We get him paired with Bain or somebody & that shyt gon go crazy.

Gotta see who he brings in as OC tho before I can get fully invested. Hope he can bring McDaniel (if he doesn't get a HC gig) like the rumors say. Get him as a 1-ye rental with a successor plan in place.

Don't sleep on Cedric Gray

Y'all act like he's calling plays on offense. What if they hire an OC as HC and the defense sucks?

At least with Saleh you get the defense fixed. There's a bunch of young OC candidates he can hire. I doubt the offense will be so good that they'd get a HC job in 1-2 seasons. They could hire someone like Nathan Scheelhaase who would be a first time play caller and get 3 seasons out of him before he bails.

People saying they should've hire McDaniel but there were too many issues with him in Miami to make him HC. You had guys being late to meetings and a complete lack of discipline. The culture there wasn't good and that's not something you want for a rebuilding team.

Do you want Kingsbury? Just like McDaniel he's probably a better OC than HC.

These other guys like Kubiak, Brady, LaFleur, etc are unproven. We've seen OC's fail at HC so it's not a given any of them are the answer. Better to get a known coach.

Saleh got a raw deal with Zach as his QB and ARod who immediately tore his Achilles. He got canned after starting the season with a 2-3 record. I think he's a good hire and the only other candidate who made as much or more sense was McDermott.

No one is saying that you CAN'T hire a DC head coach but with your second year qb it would be helpful have continuity there because the QB is the most important position in sports. If the OC coach is well the whole front office failed, If your defense is great but your qb or scheme is ass you will eventually get exposed and lose in hilarious fashion like the texans just did.

Its also much easier to ascertain a terrible offensive mind, dc hc and blame the oc, qb, kick the can down the road until people get tired of their shyt. OC who aint got it get out the paint quick, you can't waste the rookie qb window.

And if your offense is great but the defense sucks you're not winning either like the Bengals.

People only demand OC's for continuity but again, plenty of OC's fail at HC so the QB will be under a new system anyway.

You can't base your hire on being scared you'll need a new OC. Hire the best available whether that's OC or DC. Just make sure that there's someone in the building you can groom to take over in the event a coordinator leaves.

If you're that worried than hire a guy like Daboll as OC because he's not likely to get another HC gig for a while.

I like Saleh but I would've waited for a different opportunity unless he can raid the 49ers staff or bring McDaniel with him.

Thats the problem. Nobody is patient in the NFL and rightfully so....

In today's NFL it doesn't take 4-5 seasons to rebuild a team. You can do it in a year or two now and that's what fans and ownership expect. Long gone are the days when you hire a coach to try to build a system and culture slowly over a long period of time. fukk all that.

Saleh probably has 2 seasons max to get above .500 otherwise he's fired.

Unless a guy is completely incompetent they usually get 3 years. 3 years no playoffs/winning record you're on the chopping block.
