His defense has been a criticism from day one. The Mavs currently hide him and it’s probably one of the main reasons he didn’t go number one.

You acting like he is an inactive statue defender which isn’t true. His lack of lateral quickness and frame makes good on-ball defense and pick dodging a weakness. He still has good passing lane instincts, solid help defense, and good positioning+post defense and instincts on the glass and he has his moments jumping the passing lanes. Not a good defender by any means but not horrible to the point he’s a major liability.

A: Coaches in Europe that we had really insisted on the fundamentals of basketball. Regardless of 5 feet 10 or 7 feet 2, they insisted on knowing how to dribble the ball, how to pass the ball, how to shoot the ball. We played plenty of practices with two-on-two, three-on-three, four-on-four, rarely playing five-on-five so we could work on fundamentals. - Toni
