Traditional console cycles are dead

I'm salty about paying another $1000 for both updated consoles (given a $500 price tag for both), but I really shouldn't be. I pay more than that in GPUs for my PC every other year. I guess it's the wave of the future. I figure GameStop will have a "trade your old ps4/X1 for half off the new version" shyt like they did with the n3DSXL. So I guess I'll only be out $500.

$500 for 2 updated systems (I'm still skeptical that they'll be 4K, but whatever...) ain't that bad

I have 2 PS4s and 2 Xbox Ones. I'll simply either trade in or sell one of each and get the new models for the 4K TV and the 1080p TV will have the older models.

I'm guessing at least one of the two will have a 4K Blu Ray player on it.

Current gen doesn't even have that many great games (at least for a semi-casual like me). Arkham Knight and maybe Fifa 16 are the only games I own which actually give me the feeling of playing a PS4 game. (I'm sure there a few other great games I'm missing)



As ignorant as it may seem, everything else to me, looks and feels like it could have been squeezed into the PS3 lifecycle. So far, I must say, I am not impressed at all by this current generation and we are nearly 3 years in. No ways I would pay for PS5 if it came out this year

I really dont like the idea...not enough time for developers to maximize games on the consoles...but its the console makers fault...make better consoles at launch and you wont need short life cycles

Yeah. If it goes down I'm gettin a setup like the new razer stealth ultra book with the core external dgpu enclosure. Portable for business, go home hookup usbc to core with a high end gpu, play AAA games 60+fps all day long. Win win.

Ipads, Iphones, etc come out every year and cost as much or more than consoles so I don't see the problem. I think you should be able to upgrade graphics cards like PC so then everyone wins.

Yeah that's why that razer core appealing. Easily swap cards as newer ones come out.

gonna move completely to pc unless the next gen is a game changer

the jump from ps2/xbox to ps3/360 was necessary
the benefits to the jump to ps4/xb1 are negligible

i don't even honestly know what they could do that would make me get a new console

computers can do everything consoles can do better and cheaper


but once vr really hits all this shyt could be pager status anyway we be measuring ram/hdd space/screen quality on vr headsets
