I'll remind you that the first Thunder was about 40% recaps and they even played a full PPV match to fill time. Thunder was a show no one in the company wanted, because they were having enough trouble coming up with content for just the now 3 hours of Nitro every week. Then they added Thunder, all the costs of an additional big show, but the talent didn't get paid any extra and hated it, so they half assed it as Bischoff continued to flounder under the workload. It became apparent 2 weeks into Thunder that WCW was rudderless and had no plans or strong leadership. Thunder was probably the single worst decision in the last 3-4 years of WCW. A show that fans didn't ask for, that talent didn't want, that production didn't want, that diluted the brand, that added a ton of expenses, that outright damaged the quality of the brand, and drove creative past the brink of being able to produce quality content for Nitro or Thunder at that point.
