Tyler himself is to blame for that perception, but he is a talented musician with extensive knowledge.

Even your hero approved way back in 2011 when Tyler was on his :mjpls:

I have that XXL issue and even in that he was trolling with some of the questions.

nikka can’t help himself but be a troll.

He’s got ONE song I fukk with. Other than that rap music isn’t any better for his presence

Besides the bridge (which is some pseudo Mike Jack shyt ) Frontin is pretty basic/not even close to touching Pharrell's/Neptune's best work.

Joint is overrated just like Tyler :manny:

How y'all gonna say he's going overboard on his influences :russ:

Feels like people in here are looking back 20 years ago at something instead of where they were when they heard or saw the video 20 years ago

Maybe it was life changing for him. 85% of his discography sounds like Pharrell shelved beats that he was holding to put out later. Even borrowed P's Gangsta Grillz mixtape and Drama and made an album. The influence is there lol

Nobody in hip hop made videos looking like that and nothing sounded like it at the time. They played with color tones and it look futuristic, the graffiti and streetwear and where it is in fashion now, Pharrell/BBC/Nigo were pushing it before Virgil kicked the doors in. This was before $800 t-shirts now

He wouldn't have been able to explain everything like that in 03 because he's fukking 12 and the world was different but the world eventually caught up. Take King's Disease off of loop long enough and you can see that video is super influential

It's ONE freaking song. Saying the song influenced his music is one thing, but he described it as "life changing". Unless I'm missing the part about where this song directly changed his life, my point still stands.

Nothing about that video was "different". This was 2003 back when Busta, Luda, and Missy still made these crazy videos especially when we're talking about grafitti and going futuristic with it even with the clothing i.e. the entire booklet for Missy's Under Construction.

What does any of this have to do with King's Disease?

Lets keep it a stack

The best thing about Frontin is Lanisha Cole in the video

Other than that its a cool jam. Nothing life changing

Tyler The Creator is a known troll. Thats 90% of his career and legacy. Trolling

And people eat it up like he’s some great all time talent.
Don't think Tyler is trolling here. Tyler has credited Pharrell multiple times has a huge inspiration for his career. You can here it In the way Tyler produces, his early music and Cherry Bomb.

"In Search Of did more for me than Illmatic
That's when I realized we ain't cut from the same fabric...."

Yeah I don’t understand why folks trying to tell him how HE feels about a certain song. I’m sure everybody here has a song they think is perfect that don’t mean everybody else has to think the same but nobody has to
