How y'all gonna say he's going overboard on his influences :russ:

Feels like people in here are looking back 20 years ago at something instead of where they were when they heard or saw the video 20 years ago

Maybe it was life changing for him. 85% of his discography sounds like Pharrell shelved beats that he was holding to put out later. Even borrowed P's Gangsta Grillz mixtape and Drama and made an album. The influence is there lol

Nobody in hip hop made videos looking like that and nothing sounded like it at the time. They played with color tones and it look futuristic, the graffiti and streetwear and where it is in fashion now, Pharrell/BBC/Nigo were pushing it before Virgil kicked the doors in. This was before $800 t-shirts now

He wouldn't have been able to explain everything like that in 03 because he's fukking 12 and the world was different but the world eventually caught up. Take King's Disease off of loop long enough and you can see that video is super influential

It comes down to one thing

He’s a TROLL.

This is the same dude who came into the game saying stupid, provocative shyt to get a rise out of people. The same dude who spent years dissing Bruno Mars and calling him Gay and every other emasculating slur just to turn around and claim HE himself was gay. Then he popped up with a girlfriend lmao.

And i’m supposed to believe Frontin is a life altering song/video? FRONTIN??!? C’mon now lets be real for one damn second. Frontin is a really good song, and the video is dope because of Lanisha Cole and it introduced the world to Lauren London. But NOBODY has ever called Frontin iconic, never.

Its all trolling.

Breh that shyt was damn near 15 years ago when he came into the game. You’re not the same person you was back then and neither is he. Also he’s never hid his love for Pharrell, so if he’s talking about him then you know it’s serious

For a lot of kids, including me, Pharrell change the way we listened to beats. I’m a year older than Tyler and I remember hearing Danger by Mystikal for the first time when I was 11 and being like :ohhh:

Then I heard Grimey by Nore a little bit after that and had the same feeling. Then I learned it was the same producer(s). So yeah, P did a lot musically for black kids, mainly from the burbs, my age. Tyler trolls a lot but he’s serious when he talks about P

My nikka if you knew even a LITTLE bit about Tyler you'd know what a massive Pharrell stan he is. A lot of his older stuff sounds exactly like Neptunes.

What a weird hill to die on. "I didn't think Frontin was that special, therefor this known Pharrell stan is trolling when talking about its influence on him!" That's how you sound.

I know you’re talking about Frontin. I’m telling you I felt that way about Grimey, which wasn’t as big as Frontin. So it’s not crazy to think a kid felt that way about Frontin
