U.S. women's soccer demands for equal pay rejected by judge

A federal judge in Los Angeles on Friday dismissed demands by the United States women's soccer team for pay equal to that of men's.

Molly Levinson, spokeswoman for the defending World Cup champions, said the plaintiffs would appeal.

"We are shocked and disappointed with today's decision, but we will not give up our hard work for equal pay," she said in a statement. "We are confident in our case and steadfast in our commitment to ensuring that girls and women who play this sport will not be valued as lesser just because of their gender. We will appeal and press on."

If you aren’t bringing in the cash like men’s sports, don’t expect to get paid like men’s sports. WNBA needs to take note

True, but public perception is everything. They will and continue to use the fact they have more success over the years than the men as the reason why they should receive equal pay. Completely overlooking the fact that they in fact negotiated the exact deal they are stuck in now.

It’s exactly what they are trying to do. They should be up front and honest about it rather trying to hide behind the fact that it’s sorely because they are women. Bring up the numbers that show that they have been more successful than the men’s soccer team and that’s why they want to renegotiate.
