A God Among Kings
This. Folks dont realize that MMA is a SPORT, not a STYLE. MMA fighters are trained and conditioned to face other MMA fighters, in MMA fights. Fighters do cross train in several arts, but most MMA fighters bread and butter are usually
1.Wrestling/Jiu Jitsu/Judo/Sambo
2. Boxing
3. Kickboxing/Muay Thai
Most fighters train in those styles and how to defend against those styles. The most successful fighters however go outside the box and train in TMAs such as karate, tkd, etc to gain that unorthodox advantage on fighters with tactics they dont train to deal with. Then on top of this, these fighters view other fighters footage in camp to develop a strategy and gameplan to win within that environment. You get none of that in a street fight, and especially against someone trained to FIGHT FIGHT and not just to compete for sport. Theres so many variables involved in actual fights that you cant prepare for and have to deal with as they come. MJW would be more suited for that type of situation because hes been trained to deal as much damage in the shortest amount of time and end fights as quickly as possible, even if that means permanently injuring or killing someone. In a fight, hes gonna pull some shyt an average MMA athlete has never trained to deal with. He gets the element of surprise on an MMA guy. Just cuz someone fights MMA doesnt mean they cant catch Ls from highly skilled people when out of their element.
Just to piggyback off of both of yall, I've said the same premise before, that being trained in specific fighting disciplines doesn't ensure you'd win a street fight...
I've seen it happen on a few occasions in the past, trained MMA style or boxers get beat up...that training presents an advantage with the average undisciplined fighter...
When the (relatively) rare person who isn't professionally groomed or trained to fight, but just has a natural inclination on how to read and react and attack, ends up matched with a trained fighter, all bets are off, and yes, alota times this catches trained guy off guard, who in his mind's eye is prepared to fight how he was taught in a confined, controlled environment...
Most street fights aren't controlled or confined and a veteran of street fights would be at an advantage...
Finally there's some dope cats to talk to
