the only issue is size, fukk all that "looking different" or being fatter or whatever. what's the biggest country it's worked in? 40 million people? we have 330 million people in this fukkin country, and to trust an organization as incompetent as the federal government to roll this out is laughable

im down to give it a shot, but :yeshrug:
In Canada it is managed by the provinces. For instance, in Ontario (which has about 13-14 million ppl alone, which would make it the 5th largest state by population), it is managed under the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP).

Understanding Health Care in Ontario - MOHLTC

About the health care system in Ontario
Who pays for health care in Ontario?
If you live in Ontario, many of the health care services you need are publicly funded. This means that the government pays all or part of the cost for you. Services include:

listCircle.gif
visits to your family doctor and specialists

listCircle.gif
most basic and emergency health care services, including surgery and hospital stays.

To pay for these services, Ontario has set up the Ontario Health Insurance Plan. Most people in Ontario call the plan by its short name: OHIP. When Ontarians pay taxes, some of the money goes into this plan to pay for their health services. To be covered by OHIP, you need to sign up to join. Doctors and other health care providers then bill OHIP for the services they provide to you.

So basically, each state would run it the same way, focusing on the mandated policy of the federal government. But collecting the taxes from the ppl in their own states, FOR ppl in their own states.

Canada uses block grants...:francis:
Dems rejected block grants...:francis:
Why is Canada continuing to be referenced...:francis:
IMO this isn't a paritsan issue. Both parties should be on board to make this system work.

Canada is still being referenced because it is the closest PROVEN example of how this would work.

The DNC rejected this proven example... they aren’t looking for Canadian style healthcare... what they are looking for is something that hasn’t been proven to work on anything vaguely resembling America...

Works in the uk who have 60 million and Japan has like 130 million.

“Population is too big” isn’t a good excuse. The least you can do is try, surely it can’t be worse that the piece of shyt system you have now? :skip:

The whole “population is too big” is just a stupid argument.

That means we have more money to spend on healthcare because we have a higher gdp.

What we should be looking at is the per capita gdp and per capita spend on healthcare.

All studies show we pay way more per person on healthcare than other industrialized countries, but consistently rank behind most of those countries on quality of health care.

What sense does that make?

It’s like we can’t pull our collective head out of our collective asses.

It’s wild how certain Americans are never afraid to shoot for the moon and innovate and brag about being the best at everything unless it involves saving lives of its citizens (universal healthcare, gun control, etc).

Once you talk about changing things to save lives, certain people will always throw their hands up in defeat... despite not ever really trying. The shyt is mind boggling.

We have been hamstrung by the conservative movement for a good 40 years now.

The moon race might be the last big thing that we have done as a collective in the last 50 years.

Today’s conservatives would have rejected building the intercontinental railroad, U.S highway system, Hoover dam etc.
