Well, I hate to play the "race card" but that's mostly what healthcare comes down to in America.

Certain segments of voters don't want their tax money paying for the "wrong" people to get healthcare. And I don't mean obese people.


If America was more racially homogeneous we'd probably already have single payer.

That's exactly what it is. To be totally real, Republicans hated the New Deal from it's inception. The rich of this country doesn't even want their money to go to poor ass whites. The only reason they have been able to chip away at it is because of the Civil Rights Act. Because then they could say to all of those whites that blacks were now going to take their shyt.

If the government really can’t do any of that right then the whole thing needs taken apart.

Those are some of the basics, my local government provides a lot of that shyt and they do it better than the private companies.

Not saying you should doubt the government, you should always doubt them. But if they’re unable to provide healthcare for its own citizens then that’s not a failure of single payer as a policy but rather a failure of the current system you have for running the country if you get what I mean.

The federal government could absolutely be way more efficient if people really made an issue out of it. Doing nothing won’t fix government waste.

It’s not an either or issue, you can have both.

Just look at defense and how much waste that happens. Not to mention we'll still need supplemental insurance because Medicare won't cover everything (prescriptions, certain procedures, etc).

I'm not saying there won't be cost increases and waste in some areas due to expansion, but a statement like this assumes that the system isn't already a clusterf*ck with a lot of waste.

(Hint: we're #1 in healthcare spending and #33 in life expectancy, so we're not getting the best care for our buck by a long shot.)

If you can't see that, you probably don't utilize the health coverage you have as much as others do.

I believe data shows that it's worth the initial chaos expand Medicare nationwide. Waiting for "Goldilocks" conditions will help no one.
