Yo husband shoulda talked to you though. Like the woman said above. Puppy is like another kid. nikka use to whine so damn much when I left him. I got the puppy thrown at me cause my nephew who has autism couldnt properly care for it. It's 1 now and its straight I guess. My nephew comes visit it every week. Not much of an animal person either. I dont hate animals they are just meh to me.

Get rid of the dog. There are other families that will take it in. But you have to tell the kids you’re getting a kitten first. Then drag your feet for a couple of weeks, and hope the kids forget.
But cats are easier to take care of. Just scoop the litter box twice a day, and be prepared for tumbleweeds of cat hair. Buy a Roomba, and that will take care of the cat hair. Dogs make noise, and you have to walk them. And every single time someone comes to the door, you’ll have to hear:
BARK BARK BARK!

Taking care of a dog is like taking care of a child. This is something that you discuss with your spouse beforehand. The fact that he just sprung this on you says a lot about him. And on top of that you don't even like dogs and he expects you to take care of it. Wow.
This is what irks me.
He just dropped of the dog and hasn't looked at in once. Not teied to feed it or anything.
He said it was for the kids but I'd wager in a few days they will be over the puppy then it will essentially be my dog.
