Unwanted Puppy / Dog Food

Especially considering how independent cats seem to be.

Cats are filthy and don't take directions. They'll have your house smelling sour and like mildew . They hop all over furniture after steppin in their own litter

my Katy Purry thinks otherwise, she's so spoilt. My husband bought her 5 beds so she could lay down comfortably in all the rooms. He didn't even want the cat!!

But cats are so beautiful, even an animal gater like me can probably overlook cat drama.

My husband surprised me and our kids with a puppy yesterday. They fell inlove with it, I was pissed, still am.

Dog owners what are nutritious home made dog food recipies?

Are home made meals worth the hassle or should I just buy cans of dog food and not worry.

Worst part he just brought the puppy and nothing alse. (A friend's friends dog had puppies and he apparently didn't have the sense to say no thank you)

All I managed to buy coz it was later in the day was a dog bed, puppy leash, blanket. I never realised it costs that much to have a fkng dog. He had the nerve to ask what all the stuff was for, what did he think was going to happen to the dog??? He also suggested that I should walk it. wtf?

So I googled dog food recipes and I made a brown rice/ground beef/vegetables and a few other things mix. He comes into the kitchen asking whats that smell? I pointed him to the cereal and told him this was for the dog. He gave ne a funny look. (petty I know).

I'm meeting up with my animal loving acquaintance. So she shows me the dog shampoo and grooming stuff and the other stuff dogs need.

I hate animals. But I am unwillingly finding myself wanting to care for this nasty dog. I haven't touched it at all and probably never will (animals repulse me), since my husband dumped it on us and I wont let my kid's play with it in the house. I feel trapped.

We already have seven Guinea pigs. I admit I bought them coz I thought they would be dead rather quickly and it would cure my kids whinning for a pet but its now five babies later and will probably have more. (The pet store owner assured me that they were both female but we were suprised by babies!!!) I also hate them. But I do take care of them and the little fkers can live for up to 8 years!! (I kind of have a mild hay fever reaction to them...just sneezing when they shed) (I have never touched them, eww) I use a net to move them around.

Chances are my kids will be nagging for a cat soon coz they wanted a cat not a dog though they are inlove with the puppy.

I know I sound crazy and conflicted I know but I don't want my kids to not have pets simply because animals scare and disgust me. Of I had the guts I'd go abandon that dog sonewhere and tell my kids it ran away.

Do the poor pup a favor in take it back to where ever your husband bought it or take it to someone whom you know will take care of it. AND PLEASE don't abandon it somewhere like an a$$hole. You already admitted that you are repulsed by animals. The puppy is endangered in your care just so long as you have this type of attitude towards animals.

If you insists on keeping the pup start off with a good brand of kibble. Also you may want to research the BARF diet. Its a lot healthier for dogs. And please invest in some training for it. An untrained dog will only annoy you further.

Like others have said, take it back. It didn’t ask to be in your house so it’s not at fault for anything.

Make sure the kids know they will have to scoop the litter box.

Kids will agree and swear they will take care of a pet. They will for the first few days then it becomes your burden. I

They swore they would clean the guinea pig cage and they never have, not once.

The only thing they will do is cuddle and wash and blow dry them, coz its apparently fun, I can't bring myself to touch any animal. but while they are washing them I have to clean out the cages, replace the straw...

I was weak and bought the guinea pigs so I know thats my bad . But I didn't sign up for a dog.

you don't have any... it's also a major turn off for me as a man in a woman and comes off unnatural. women that don't like kids or animals or women with no nurturing spirit are all the way weird to me. like cold ass aliens.

you can be indifferent but actual hate... even hearing you describe how you can't touch animals is off putting to me. I'm often also accused of hating Black women on this website but If I'm being honest with you "I hate animals" is something I hear a lot from Black women irl as well... is this a cultural thing or? da fukk...

I won't abandon it (though it did cross my mind). I just dont feel love/affection for animals. Maybe hate is too strong a word... I just have no desire for their company or any physical contact with them.

Its not racial or cultural. My black female family members have pets. My daughters who are black girls love animals.

The animal nut who is going to help me is a black female. She has dogs, a full pond with water birds, rabbits/ guines pigs / a few chickens / a cow... she just has a million pets. Is always looking out for more pets. I think she is one of those who would choose an animal over a human.


I just find them disgusting. I'm sure there are plenty of non black women who do not care about animals as well.

Please don't abandon it. Dogs are like children and mean this literally. They have the intelligence level of human toddlers and know when they're being treated unjustly or with cruelty. If you insists on keeping him training is vital, especially if you don't have patience for dogs. Its important to have him around other dogs and humans for socialization too. Dogs who get uncontrollably excited or aggressive over seeing other dogs and humans are a hassle.

As you start taking care of him you may even start to like him and he'll grow an affinity to you if you are his primary caretaker. Dogs will never leave your side. There is a reason why they're considered mans best friend.

Also there are plenty of people who'll take in dogs around this time. People are lonely because of being on lock down and need companions. However, i will say that you are obligated to make he goes into good hands if you need to get rid of him. I know there are some organizations that'll find a healthy new home for him. Similar to adoption agencies.
