CAP. I used to recruit and my demographics were diverse. I even used to go to LSU's campus and signed up rich kids for infantry. The military is a "way out" for some people in less fortunate circumstances however, you have people from all walks of life. Army wise, most black people get into logistics or medical, and you have more whites and Hispanics that go into combat fields.
Furthermore, you better learn how to shoot and learn some tactics. White supremacists have been doing this for years and taking that training back to their militias waiting for the race war that the want so badly to pop off. Some of y'all are going to be food if something ever pops off because you don't know the basics of how to defend yourself - If you want to defeat your enemy, know how your enemy operates.

I once had orders for six months to work in Nicaragua. I was going to be a card holder for whatever mission was going on there. All civilian clothes, no uniform needed. Ended up getting cancelled.
