First of all I'm not talking about IT

We obviously need to open more black technology companies and to do that we need more black technology graduates, and the onus for getting more black tech graduates is on black people it's not on the tech industry

There is nothing I'm saying or suggesting that depends on white people, that is why you'll never say me supporting diversity programs or affirmative action, cuz they are dependent on white people and our just crumbs being thrown at us

Breh, who do you think is going to be the ones to make the decision whether those black graduates get hired?

There are factors that prevent more black tech graduates that happen long before college.
and to start a tech company.. you don't really have to be technical.
The industry prevents blacks just like anything else from advancing.

And most so-called black tech graduates are mentally focused on finding the great job or money...... They aren't problack enough for the majority of them to be independent minded.... you can say all day that it's about being business minded.....

but
as someone who deals with this shyt daily- i'd say you have to be black minded first. Business minded second. Even the corny nikka who you'd never expect to be pro black... might be pro black on the low when you really speak with them about their businesses n shyt.

So first step (IMHO) has to be fix the non technical and non business side of their minds.... to get them to focus on themselves and who they are in amerikka.. If not - they will accept working for CAC. and essentially we are back at square one.

More propaganda so black people will shy away from the fastest growing field:whoo:

Read with your eyes closed brehs:skip:

Blacks being discriminated in this country isn't propaganda. As someone who's in the STEM field, the discrimination in here is absolutely real, just like every other industry we attempt to get into.

All of this shyt should persuade us to finally start and own our shyt so we can employee our own people. But instead we got dudes who'd rather continue to ask the same group of people who made it absolutely clear they view us as their enemy for a job.

The part I bolded breh. Do you think white people have those same obstacles when getting to these higher level positions?

Not anywhere near the obstacles faced by black people and to a lesser degree white women. Doesn't mean there aren't black people that can't navigate the waters. At my company, we have two very senior black vice presidents. So it doesn't mean it's impossible.

This. It seems like no matter what, black people continue to ignore the fact that we need to own our businesses.

The Truth
:ehh: It's a good option, especially with a STEM major. Way better than unsuccessfully roaming the workforce wasting time

I thought about becoming a Nuke once I graduated
I was in the Navy, that's why I ask. And getting my STEM major while also trying to rack up some certs.... Just wondering if you heard something out in the civilian world

If you graduate go officer school though bruh unless you just want to be a Nuke.

I'm not saying it isn't possible breh. What I'm saying is you know damn well that those black people had to work harder, be smarter, and get paid less than there white counterparts.

So instead of those two incredibly talented VP's having to deal with that oppression and discrimination despite how talented they are, why don't we as black people start to get serious about starting our own businesses so that those VP's don't have to get paid less when they're clearly better?

All The Way One Hunnid
Breh.. I made $ the last few years with my own tech staffing firm........... and I'm not even a recruiter :sas1:

I just know the business:sas2: and I like the Pimping hustling aspect of it all.... get 8 indians billing at 10$margins for 2080 hours and what's that my nikka?

it is what it is. Nobody said that IT wasn't racist.... all industries on Earth are racist............ But you have to be a real bytch not to be able to overcome the barriers in the IT. Growing up black in America should make the technology industry a cakewalk, especially on the software side. Media, education, justice, prison, healthcare, energy, communication, and Financial more racist than IT because it's mostly about skill sets.

I've previously worked other jobs... and other industries, and even the military - All Way more racist than IT

And I agree with cultural fit anyway. for example, I don't want to work around CAC so I don't. I don't work with cac because cac don't find less
'acceptable' and presentable brothas a fit and they make corny jokes and do cac shyt. ... Technology is an area where Our focus should be on starting our own over working for CAC anyway-- that the real way to deal with white supremacy.

And Silicon Valley is one location out of thousands to get an IT job. I  at the type of nikkas that will go to hyped up areas like that over getting paid somewhere less glamorous.

In IT I'd say being a OLD :flabbynsick: person is worse than everything...... except being Indian in certain circumstances.
I might get into freelance staffing. Tons of money to be made. Black women, especially in the DMV, have been eating off recruiting.

Breh, the opening paragraph and the headline of the article suggest it's a nationwide problem when it comes to hiring blacks and hispanics in the tech industry. But the numbers they are basing this on is the % of black and Hispanic hired in just SEVEN Silicon Valley companies vs the number of graduates in the field in the entire country:mjlol:

Seven Silicon Valley companies now represent the entire industry?:mjlol:
How fukking skewed is this article??:mjlol:

If they had numbers based on the entire industry then I can look at it more legitimately:ehh:

But otherwise, this shyt is just propaganda and :troll: black and hispanic kids out there who want to enter the field.

We might need to have a conversation offline:cacpls:

This is my personal experience. There are three explanations.

1. White people have better connections. It's easy to get a job when your dad is golf buddies with the tech company manager and he can pull some strings for "Sally" so she can get into a really nice internship. In college, almost all of my white classmates came from professional/prominent families.(Parents were engineers, doctors, dentist, BSN nurses, computer scientist, military officers, hospital administrators, successful business folk, scientist, bankers, top performing HS teachers in difficult subjects, etc) A lot of their extended families were middle class professionals as well and it wasn't unusual to have a brother or an uncle who was a doctor. It's easy to go through Physics II like it's cake when mom is able to funnel your private tutor 10 dollars an hour for private sessions or get really strong math skills because your mom is the AP calculus teacher at the local HS. When you grow up in the best schools in the state, it's very hard NOT to do well in school. A lot of the nice high paying jobs are gained through CONNECTIONS and NETWORKING, not by slamming out a bunch of random resumes to random people. This puts white people at an advantage because they will be connected to these "in crowd" people need to fill positions. Black people typically don't hang out with these people.

2. The persistent belief that "black people aren't intelligent enough/passionate enough to do the work so why invest in them?" I'm a bit nerdy but one of the down sides about STEM is that it is filled with nerds and nerds can be some of the most racist/insecure/sexist people on the planet. It didn't help growing up when I told some of my white teachers I wanted to be a scientist and they were like :merchant:. I got lucky I had more progressive minded teachers that didn't think black people were too stupid to be high achievers that really motivated me to dream big, work hard and think differently. Then some white professionals are very intimidated by black culture and feel best to hire mostly white people since they fit into "company culture".

3. There is a lack of black HIGHLY successful entrepreneurs outside of music/sports. Yeah there are black people that do marginally well outside of those two industries but there is a strong lack of household name level successful black people in the STEM industry. You have Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, etc and almost all of the top lauded people are white males. They typically are going to associate with white males in their inner circle and the people they mentor will often be white males. There are few black zuckerbergs, steve jobs, etc that are more likely going to mentor black youth to have the skills necessary to compete. This poses a huge problem for the "achievement gap".

That's generally now why I don't support black self segregation. You definitely need to be conscious as a black person of how your race is perceived in the work but self segregating yourself is only going to make things worse. This is why I am so hard on black militants on the Coli. Just because you're not a militant doesn't mean that you are a c00n but hating white people is not a great strategy for long term success. There were a lot of jobs, opportunities and skills I learned BECAUSE I regularly kick rocks with white boys.(along with black folks, asians, indians, hispanics as well too) It's important for black people to have their own strong community but not at the expense of self-segregating yourself.

Get in here about what? I'm a college dropout breh.

And this report isn't anything new. As long as we continue to have to ask white people to hire us, we will have to deal with racism and white supremacy. The ONLY solution is for us to separate ourselves from our enemies and be completely 100% independent from them. Any place in which they have control, they oppress us.
