Folks generally are either broke trying to stunt (like rappers who live off of advance checks, loans and heavy rentals)
or simply ain't used to finer things and what goes with that lifestyle.

growing up,i always hated tipping,but my parents always instilled it in me that i must always tip. I was always like "Why do i gotta tip" and they'd tell me "cause that's the morally right thing to do ". So now as an adult,I always give a decent tip. I do remember when i was like 12 or 13,i went to the barber shop by myself for the first time,and after i got my haircut,i forgot to give my barber a tip. Homeboy gave me the dirtiest look like 
. When i came home my pops asked me "You gave him a tip?". I said "Nah,i forgot". My pops beat my ass and forced me to go back to the barber shop and give homeboy a tip.

I remember when my co worker threw a birthday party for herself at this club. I got there 1 hr late (real nikka time) and the waitress asked if i wanted a drink and had an attitude; so she brought me a beer. She was standing there looking at me mad and i was like o mybad thank you. She was like umm it would be kind if you can tip me. I was like for a beer; my co worker started laughing and said he doesn't go out much. I was like

but some nice restaurants add 18% gratuity to the bill before you receive it
so $20 would just be on top of that to bump it over 20%
