There is no evidence that voter id laws stop black people from voting

There is no evidence that black people lack ids

Anecdotes and sob stories are not evidence

Stop believing the narratives made up by white supremacists from both parties and start believing in facts

If what you're saying is true, what was the purpose for these judges to strike down voter ID laws in their respective states?

Texas's Voter ID Law Is Struck Down, Again

Appeals court strikes down North Carolina’s voter-ID law

In the North Carolina case, the 4th Circuit panel agreed with allegations that North Carolina’s omnibus bill selectively chose voter-ID requirements, reduced the number of early-voting days and changed registration procedures in ways meant to harm blacks, who overwhelmingly vote for the Democratic Party.

“The new provisions target African Americans with almost surgical precision” and “impose cures for problems that did not exist,” Judge Diana Gribbon Motz wrote for the panel. “Thus the asserted justifications cannot and do not conceal the State’s true motivation.”

I mean, who doesn't have an ID in 2017. If you can wait. In line for Jordans and iPhones surely you could wait an hour to get a government ID. :troll:

Those are probably older folks not up on modern times. Those southern blacks live to 120 sometimes. They send they great grands to the liquor store. Ijs

I’m not writing in support of these laws, theese laws are obviously racially motivated and are definitely designed against minorities

My point is that 1) it’s a laughable effort to surpress the black vote since there are very few black people that lack proper id 2) if there are black people that don’t have id they should be tarred and feathered and slapped up since having proper id is key to community development (banking, jobs, loans, traveling etc) 3) you guys are letting white liberals, who are also white supremacists who believe in black inferiority frame the issue, voting is secondary to gaining political power as Claude Anderson has explained

So in 2017 you need ID to vote but they have facial recognition on consumer phones and phones also recognition for fingerprints. No wonder Russia hacked the election the voter technology is those scantron sheets from 4th grade. I wanna vote from my phone brehs fingerprint and facial rec, worse case they can scan my BS and Social with the camera.

This undermines you initial points that they don't affect elections, and that voter ID laws aren't an important issue.

The article is suggesting that voter suppression laws do not effect elections and the predictions of voter oppression have not come true

If they are "racially motivated" and "definitely designed against minorities", then they do, in fact, affect elections, and they should be spoken out against and stopped. :denzelcmonson:

the bottom line is that there is a huge thread where yall are crying about about voter id laws, i was saying voter id laws are not an important issue because they dont really stop black from voting

Yet, judges ruled against them because they believed they would stop many black people from voting. :bpthink:

Unless you believe racially targeted voting laws aren't worth worrying about, you're contradicting yourself.

If you read the tenants of the voter ID laws, they selectively chose certain types of ID's to include/exclude, and they do it arbitrarily to keep certain people from being able to do the footwork to get the right ID.

Getting an ID in 2017 isn’t quite as difficult as learning to read in the Jim Crow era.

im not following your logic, just because the laws were designed to do something doesnt mean they will, a lot of laws dont work and a lot of laws have unintended consequences. so in and of itself the fact that these laws were designed to suprress the lack vote is not evidence, you need actual data to prove your point

you can speculate, analyze and predict what laws can do but until you have data its just a theory

so let me put it in caps maybe you some of you guys will get it

THE WHOLE ENTIRE POINT OF THE NYTIMES ARTICLE IS THAT THE PREDICTIONS OF VOTER ID LAWS CAUSING VOTER SUPPRESSION OF BLACK VOTERS DID NOT COME TRUE

its obvious none of you actually read the article, you just came in hear spouting some talking points from the DNC

This seems like one topic people would avoid being contrarians about.

Life is full of surprises I guess
Nah he is known for doing stuff like this.

Dude once came at me and defended racism. :francis:

I think he is white and is low key racist and hasn’t been banned because he lurks in higher learning only.
