Here's the problem with this argument. Why do we give MJ credit for going to Finals and never losing but getting knocked out early in his career while bringing up Lebron's 3-3 Finals Record as if he didn't bring teams that wouldn't have been playoff teams without him there? What MJ did in the Finals was unbelievable but we're basically taking credit away from Bron for taking teams that didn't deserve to be there while not taking any credit away from MJ for getting eliminated early

The 07 Cavs had no business being in the NBA finals and the 2014-15 Cavs were bombed out and depleted.

We saw Jordan retire and his team went 55-27 without him.

.....I hear so much about Bron overall game and yet MJ the one with 10 triple doubles in 11 games. Bron defense is lauded but MJ the one with a 200 steal and 100 block season. And I love the "total" number stat being used. The scoring champ is chosen by average, assist leader is done by average, steals leader is done by average, etc....but I love the narrative shift to say Bron "led" in all categories with "totals".

Because Bron's overall game doesn't come at the expense of winning. Jordan went 5-6 in that run which is pretty much the perfect example of stat-padding.

Stats don't properly define defense. Lebron's versatility, vision, and play recognition make him able to be a quasi-anchor defensively. That versatility and IQ mixed with his freakish athletic ability makes defenses think second guess passes all the time because live turnovers against Lebron are instant points.

Lebron isn't nearly as good as MJ but he's obviously a more versatile overall player. Lebron runs offenses, calls sets, and acts as the point guard for championship-capable offensive squads and typically acted as PG for most of his championship runs. MJ acted as a PG for 11 games and had a losing record despite the stats with little to no team success and got all of his success when Jordan wasn't on control of the offense and dominating the ball.

Uhhh the leader in total stats for one playoff series is gonna be the leader on average too. Both teams are playing the same amount of games. It's not a narrative shift at all

MJ in his career has 28 triple doubles
LBJ in his career has 39 triple doubles

Playoffs
MJ has 2 triple doubles
LBJ has 14 triple doubles in 2nd place behind Magic (30)

So I don't understand why you would even bring up triple doubles and try to compare Lebron and Jordan.

Funny you talk about scoring champ, but no one said LBJ was the scoring champ, the stat is literally when has a player ever led both teams in all statistical categories. Never been done before, not even Wilt

You do realize mj got those triple doubles in larger volume and in shorter time span playing away from his natural at pg.
Whereas alternatively lebron playing his natural never averaged a triple double.
Plus mj at his natural averages more in scoring and was a better skill player in every facet.
Plus mj was a better passer and it is evident by his averages at the pg position bron jettisoned.
Arguably mj is the best pg of all time as well.
statistically mj has the highest average of a triple double a game as a pg given the situation.

Bron is nowhere near mj as a skillplayer.

Lebron is also not aggressive enough.
to go to the hole and has no pedigree as a dribble drive player incomparison to mj.
So even if hand checking was re-established.
bron, would be neutralized even more from lack of pedigree.
