You didn't even have the NBA League Pass back then so all you had on network tv was the 'name brand teams with stars'. There were a lot of sh*tty teams back in the those days too even in the wonderful Jordan era but they weren't exposed like they are now with the cable- satellite sports packages and the internet. You didn't even get a lot of basketball on major network tv to begin with. Espn wasn't doing the NBA back then. NBC was like only on weekends and playoffs.
Come on now. :aicmon:

Even the sorry ass Clippers back then had Darius Miles, Kenyon Dooling and Elton Brand to compete with Jason Kidd's Suns.

Milwaukee had Glenn Robinson

Wizards had Rod Strickland and Mitch Richmond

Nets had Jason Williams (limo murderer)

Household names. I cant even name five NBA players right now. The drop off between the 90's and now has been HUGE.

It's just not fun anymore. :yeshrug:

Everyone is all about them. 50% of the NBA teams are :trash: That says alot.

Not even gonna get into some of the inaccuracies in your list but ok...

Cincinnati Bengals haven't won a playoff game since 1990.
Buffalo Bills haven't made the playoffs since 1999.
The Cleveland Browns have made the playoffs once in the past 16 seasons.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers haven't won a playoff game since 2002.
The Kansas City Chiefs haven't won a playoff game since 1993.
Before last year, the Dallas Cowboys had won one playoff game in the last 17 seasons.
The Miami Dolphins haven't won a playoff game since 2000.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have made the playoffs twice in the last 16 seasons.
The Detroit Lions have won one playoff game in the last 58 seasons.
The Oakland Raiders haven't made the playoffs since 2002.
The St. Louis Rams have missed the playoffs 11 years in a row.
The Washington Redskins have won one playoff game in the last 15 seasons.
The Tennessee Titans haven't won a playoff game since 2003.

And I'm sure those fanbases have irrational confidence every year that "This is our year", but that doesn't change the fact that haven't been shyt in a long time
I'm not even a football fan but you cant compare other leagues to the NFL because that sport is teflon. Due to fantasy football, gambling, only having 16 games, the one game playoffs and the fact that there are millions of neckbeards who will watch ANY slop the NFL puts out.

I'm an NBA guy. Just acknowledging that the power balance is out of wack and is a concern when 50 pct of the markets havent been relevant in years. If the NBA wants to say in the public consciousness of people in Middle America, they need to address this.

And everyone of those teams can upset a powerhouse team, can compete and upset a "powerhouse" team any given Sunday. Hell, most you listed are .500 or better. Most of them have a stud (Mariota, Winston) that you could actually pay to see :what:

people are getting tired of watching 3pt and free throw shooting contests :yeshrug:
I dont know why people keep saying this.

The Golden State Warriors are the league's primary draw. People like the 3ball. I agree the free throw shooting and the Hack-A-*Player who sucks at FT's* is bad for the league. JVG says it all the time and it will likely be addressed in the offseason

What's your point? The Milwaukee Bucks just beat a 24-0 Warriors team and they have promising young players on their team like a Jabari Parker or Giannis Antetokounmpo. Does that change the fact that they haven't been shyt since Ray Allen & Glenn Robinson were there 15 years ago?

How can u put the NBA in the "consciousness of middle America" without intentionally making the sport more white?

Race plays a part obviously but if more teams were contenders, locals would support regardless. You see how all those Oklahoma CACs support the Thunder? How cacs in Ohio support the Cavs? How CACs support various teams around league? Not even mentioning the eses who support teams as well.

I followed Dooling out of Missouri. Him and Darius Miles, and I think Olowankandi had the squad that was hype to really make some noise. (Im a Suns fan)

The media hyped up Strickland and Richmond as the best backcourt in the NBA

Garnet, Gugliotta, Starbury made the TWolves competitive for years ALONE.

That era was when I followed the NBA religiously. It was a lot more competitive and memorable then it is now
The infamous AI crossover against Jordan :banderas:

And more then half of the NBA still cant compete against the 3 powerhouses in the league.

You cannot have such prominence now as it was back then. There are no superstarts like it was in the 90's :stopitslime:

The NBA can't win for sh*t though

If the traditional powers are down like the Lakers its: "The league is boring now"
If there's alot of middle of the road teams/parity its: "The league needs to contract, no talent in the league anymore"
If a few teams have better records early in the season its: "The league is to predictable"
