Wal-Mart gotten punked by Amazon and forcing everyone to do higher wages in the post pandemic world where young workers are almost nowhere to be seen.

People cried when they opened everywhere and killed small retailers. Now they cry again because of loss of shyt inferior jobs. What do people actually want? This is a business opportunity.. not the end just another chapter. But knowing OP this will somehow tie in with some apocalypse

Profit.

More people opting for deliveries mean you don't need these stores.

Plus all of the AI automation.

Delivery services tack on all kinds of extra surcharges and order minimums so it's not that. This is corporate greed and hubris backfiring. Walmart thought they could successfully pass the so called "rising costs of inflation/min wage" onto the consumer ad Infinitum while coasting off their legacy of being "affordable" but failed to realize that unlike big corporations, customers aren't just playing broke, they ARE broke and cutting back. When you're poor and only seem to be getting poorer sacrifices have to be made and no one is going to choose paying Walmart's extortionist prices for a gallon of milk, a dozen eggs and a loaf of bread over having a roof over their heads. They're gonna eat a can of sardines with some crackers while watching Netflix from their sister's homegirl's cousins account and call it a day.

People "cried" when Walmart was killing local small businesses because they decimated entire towns and industries in one fell swoop by virtue of them being a "cheaper" one-stop retailer alone.

Now people are "crying" because after making themselves the only available job in town, Walmart is closing stores with zero regard for whatever remaining employees they still had.

This isn't actually the confusing contradiction you're making it out to be.

This was 20 or so years in the making though. You speak as if all of this happened within the past 3 years. Hundreds of businesses opened and closed since the 1st cry of Walmart is driving out small businesses. If it wasn't Walmart, it would've been some other business doing the exact same thing.
