No, Ariza is a complementary player & part of the Rockets main core not only because he's a starter, but because he's their best SF imbecile :snoop:

Keep reaching while looking like a complete clown in the process:youngsabo:
A complementary player and role player are basically the same thing you dumb fukk. Being the best at your position on a team doesn't mean that can't be a role player. Regardless, I've given you half a dozen articles that clearly state he's a role player - why do you keep ignoring this by using semantics of what the true definition is? Especially since the examples you used clearly state a starter can be a role player.

"A role player could be a starter who has a special skill... such as being a great defensive player, or a great rebounder, or a point guard who can handle the ball and pass.

However, a role player is often the player who comes off the bench. He/she understands and accepts his/her role on the team. While on the bench, the good role player keeps his/her head in the game, and observes what's going on, where the weaknesses are in the defense, which opposing players are "killing us", what's happening on the boards, etc. He/she is "ready to go" when the coach calls.

A good role player will come off the bench and really hustle on defense, go for loose balls, get the important rebounds. The substitute player can be aggressive, since fouling out is less of a concern.

:stopitslime:Joe Johnson isn't a legitimate true role player breh no matter how many times you repeat the same sentiment.

Define role player.

Everyone has a role of you ask me. Even the star of the squad.
Again what's the definition? Was Rodman not a role player because he started? Was Bruce Bowen not a role player because he started? Ron Harper? Robert Horry?
Is Joe Johnson a main option/star on your team?

Yes and No

Without Bosh on the roster he's no lower than 3rd scoring option for us behind Wade and either WhiteSide or Dragic (however you wanna go) . He may not be an important player for us moving forward meaning we wont put too much effort in to keep him BUT he's valued for what he can do for us in spacing the floor especially in Bosh's absence. Remember our biggest weakness is that we have no shooters outside of Bosh, Joe Johnson and now Josh Richardson

I'd add Deng to that list too. JJ is pretty much the 4th/5th option.

The point I'm trying to make here is that he's no longer a main option player - he was signed to spread the floor, provide some scoring and help run the offense when needed to. He was never signed on the notion that he was going to significantly improve your title chances - like this dude @O.G.B is insinuating everyone is doing.

Minutes aren't necessarily indicative of how good someone is. At this stage in his career, yes, I would consider him a role player, and that's not necessarily a negative moniker to have. He's there to stretch the floor and provide timely scoring. He's a very high-class role player.
Couldn't agree more - would you say it's patently ridiculous for someone to claim that K-Mart is a better player and can provide more on court than him? Would you also say it's ridiculous for someone to say Johnson is expected to be the main factor in helping this Heat team win a title - e.g. is it ridiculous that someone would use how many games (and who) the Heat lose, against Johnson as if he's not doing his job?
