Hip hop changed so much from 90-99 thoughI just chalk up 90-99 as one whole year and i really mostly really only listen to those years can't just pick a best year
Even a short period of 90 to 95 had a drastic changeHip hop changed so much from 90-99 though![]()
Pun's album had some commercial shyt on it that wouldn't have been there in 96 I bet. Plus Puff

No, not true. the first part you said is 100% on point. we cared about production just as much as lyrics. what we cared about most was the overall professionalism of the artist and the song. if by chance the beat wasnt all that. you better rap yo a... off. to bring the songs quality level up to professional standards. if the beat was crazy, you didnt have to walk as far to be at that level but some did it anyway. so it made the song outstanding. this is what you got with the greats.Exactly. And the fans back then were extremely critical of rappers who had a wack pen game. I feel like people cared more about lyrics than production In the 90s
I think that's what the breh @Inspect Her Deck was hinting at earlier. I'll have to revisit that album.

But if you go back 5 years from 2016 there is absolutely no difference.Music sounds exactly the same. .. More fakkits?![]()
I think it's a great year. Peak of rhyming depends on if it's lyrics, stylistically or musically. I do think it's a year I would think of as being in contention because a lot of great ish in whatever way came out that year.Thread ran its course...but I'm still interested in what @DANJ! @hexagram23 @Wacky D @The Ruler 09 think.
