Man yall really sleeping on when The Massacre dropped and went 1.1 million in a short week :gucci:

Kiss barbecued that man and even he had to admit that shyt was insane. Em never did that. Em putting up more numbers in the long run tho
MMLP did 1.7 million first week and the lead single is one of the most played songs in radio history (when radio was a much more dominant force than it is today, perhaps radio’s peak years)

The Massacre was the beginning of 50 Cent’s downturn, it showed that he had reached his commercial heights and there was no lore upward mobility for his career. The album’s first week sales were a remnant of previous success and the content, image (and perhaps gimmick). He had a hit a ceiling and the content he was putting out was not going to support the height he was it. He had reached a ceiling and he lost the most important segment of his audience when they realized he was no wearing silk underwear, so to speak (see Rocky IV)

They overlap. While Fifty was blowing up, Eminem Show and 8 Mile were coming out. Eminem solidified this by coming out with the cac anthem in, "Lose Yourself.". Honestly, they were always pretty close to each other, while Fifty was cooking, Eminem just let him do his thing and made another D12 album/ beefed with Source. By 04-05, Em was pilled up and G-Unit was strong. Fif was bigger from this point until he decided to beef with everyone and people got tired of his shyt.

No.

Slightly under equal. Had crossover radio presence but not crossover image presence.

Eminem in 2001
50 Cent in 2003
2Pac in 1996
Snoop Dogg in 1993

These artists (all from the Interscope machine) stood at the pinnacle of the music industry in their peak years. The market value of their presence can only be compared to the market value of the music industry at their respective times

50's peak year was 2005
