His list said hotter than, which he was. Pun even had him featured on the album to bolster sales.

Pun was better lyrically but Busta was right there as far as rappin, didn't need to punch in either
Only thing Busta had on Pun was cardio

He ain't drop a verse on Pun's album either :mjpls:

The second first time busta waa the best emcee in rap.
Not just ny but every emcee at that point.

The first time being scenario.

Then the entire collab run.

Also later in his career on return of the dragon. Busta actually was the best active major label emcee too tho.

So three to four or five periods of busta dominance skillwise.

Im from The Other Side so I wasn’t following all the Street Science/Rap Politics of NYC at the time - take this with a grain of salt.

But Busta was my favorite rapper from over there in 95 and 97. Only ones on his level was Biggie and KRS.

1995 by the time I heard “Abandon Ship” it was a done deal; nobody was fuccin’ with that IMO
1996 was just too wide open - truly one of my favorite years in Rap.
1997 When Disaster Strikes he got me back because he kept it rugged in the mainstream during the apex of the Shiny Suit Era,
right before the next wave.

All-time I have him ranked in a tie for #13 with Redman.

My top 5

1) KRS One
2) Rakim
3) Big Daddy Kane
4) Q Tip
5) Nas

Beyond that comes...

Sean Price
Masta Killa
GZA
Jay Z
Big L

And the best female rapper of all time MC Llyte

Never thought of Busta as a top 5 MC.

After 96 no never
Anyone tells you different is a lie

Before 96 I don’t know

As somebody who purchased his first 3 albums
No classics, great singles and hits but a lot of filler cuts. I remember I thought ELE was gone be the one and was so disappointed outside a few standouts

Nas, jay, Jada/styles, multiple wu tang members, x, pun, early canibus were all active during his run and more highly touted

Busta had a lot of bangers. Plus he had longevity. He was hot for at least 6 or 7 years.

Put your hands where my eyes can see
Pass the Courvoisier
I know what you want
Dangerous
Arab money

Plus many others

"Anyone tells you different is a lie"

Then you proceed to throw in bunch of lies like calling Canibus a better rapper than Busta. Canibus at no point in his career was ever a better artist than Busta. Canibus had a horrible ear for the beats, he had the same type of flow while Busta could rap slow, could rap fast, could rap at any pace and kill it on the mic.

Canibus had one of the worst debut albums of all time, then buried himself completely a decade or so later when he exposed himself as incapable of reminding his rhymes, nor capable of actually freestyling when he brought the notebook in a battle against some lame ass Dizaster.

Speaking of Disaster, When Disaster Strikes album alone had a few well regarded classic songs such as Dangerous and Put your hands where my eyes could see. Some of the best tracks of that era.

That’s why I said early canibus before the album

Your crazy if anyone thought busts rhymes was better than canibus when he was doing clue freestyle and dropping verses in the underground

Busts don’t got no classics, he doesn’t have an illmatic or reasonable doubt :smh:

I’m not knocking him but he was not looked at as a top 5 mc stop
