Yes Jordan was hated. No one man was immune.

I just saw pretty good load of tweets talk about how they disliked Jordan in the 90s. Said he got alot of calls, special treatment etc.

There is even a video on Youtube talking about this from one particular fan.

I have also seen folks say that while they disliked Jordan they grew to respect him over time.

The same shyt is going to happen to Lebron when he steps down and fades away after retirement. I would even say the same for Kobe, his hate has died down tremendously and hes starting to get more love now that hes at the end of the road.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Like all athletes and entertainers, he had his critics... but they were a real tiny minority. The Bulls were always the most loved team outside Chicago after the local ones.
But MJ was loved everywhere. He was the most recognizable American in the 90s outside maybe Bill Clinton. If you were flipping the channels, you would stop every time his face was on TV. He was on the cover of sports magazines but also Time, Fortune, Forbes and newspapers frontpages. NBA TV ratings were at all-time highs during his reign. His impact on the US economy was valued at $10 billion in 1998: http://archive.fortune.com/magazines/fortune/fortune_archive/1998/06/22/244166/index.htm

But the peak of his popularity was during the 2nd threepeat. The Bulls were like the Beatles. Every Bulls games from Oct 1995 to June 1998 was sold out (home and away). Overseas it was the same shyt... They were blocking streets in Paris when the Bulls went there for exhibition games in 1997

He wasn't even hated by Knicks fans from what I remember. His shoes were the best and NYC is the sneaker mecca, so even if you were a knicks fan you more than likely owned some jordans.

Floyd is the most hated athlete in my lifetime. More so than Lebron and Barry Bonds.

I can't see floyd being hated more than bonds.

White people hated Bonds, no one else really did. Black people, white people, asians, and latinos hate Mayweather. My parents are from Guatemala and my dad was telling me how much hate Mayweather was getting out there. Mayweather hate is international as well, nobody gives a crap about baseball outside the USA.

Love
Michael Jordan was loved or at least very respected by every single person I ever met who acknowledged his existence when I was a kid in the 90's.
My sister and my cousin were Lakers fan. He and her friends HATED Jordan with a passion.

Jordan scores 50 ptsin a win
  • Critics - OMG! Did you see him pass the ball at all ? :mindblown:

Jordan takes a game winning shot and makes it
  • Critics - OMG does this guy know he has Teammates? Stacey King (a Center) was wide open on the three pt line :wtf:

Jordan dumps off a pass to Wil lPerdue for a game winning dunk with 1 second left on the clock
  • Critics - OMG! Does this guys ever give credit to his teammates? :scusthov:

Jordan catches a lob from Pippen and dunks it
  • Critics - Why cant he do the same sometimes? Why cant he be the one passing the ball :dahell:

Jordan throws lob to Luke Longley for a dunk
  • Critics - Why is he celebrating like he scored the basket???? :camby:
Again this is why i laugh when i hear people finding every little thing to sh!t on LeBron. I've seen that movie before

You can't be serious, I'm not a Knicks fan but lived in NY and have many friends who are Knicks fan, under no circumstances was Jordan loved by Knicks fans. A lot of strong revisionist history in this entire thread. Lol @ the idea that Jordan was loved by the fan bases of the Knicks, Cavs, Pacers, and Pistons.

Michael Jordan, had a winning mentality and just a different passion for the game than Lebron.

You would never see Jordan dancing around and acting stupid on the court. Flopping like Lebron does. Jordan was a Apex predator and an arrogant a$$

Lebron is a great player but like a joke, his body language and how he speaks to the media is artificial.

That is cool and everything but at least one of the guys speaks out on race and doesn't throw his dignity away in exchange for sneakers :mjpls:

Nah they didn't hate him, they hated reggie but not Jordan. The influence dude had byway of his sneakers curbed alot of hate in NYC even amongst knick fans.
