Was listening to the radio. What exactly happened to cause the downfall of Hip Hop?

A lot went into getting rap where it is now. All those dance and snap songs along with Souljaboy influenced all these new Gen Z trash rappers.

It's honestly been a slow circle down the drain. And looking back you can see it coming.

Rap pushes away anyone after a certain age, you gotta use the latest slang, catch phrases, etc. All these dudes have angles...but once we've seen all tge angles it's old news.

eventually, there's only so much gun talk you can do, only so much selling drug talk, so now you rap about using drugs, you beef with each other and make fans hate one side, then the winner of the beef falls off. So now 2 careers are done.

Rap is dead. It WILL have one more spark before it fizzles out tho.

The real downfall came from people putting their friends on. Too many people use their success to make their talentless friend be rappers. This goes from artist, radio personnel and a&r’s. Over time of letting every friend who was a goon, hustler, stripper or low-life friend with a street story get a deal destroyed rap music. But, music is checked mate and that’s across the board. Records are made all the same and the subject matter is all dysfunctional throughout every genre (not just talking Black music with this part).

For the 10th time…it was Chief Keef, and I’m not joking. When ‘Don’t Like’ came out, that nikka changed the world, literally. Hiphop was already on a downtrend but that song made every young nikka in the world want to be a Chicago nikka, and it just kept spiraling out of control from there…

Drake. Cacs, and dumb nikkas.

The kinda nikkas that'll say tech, em, and lupe are corny and then turn around and listen to drill rappers with half the skill.

Alot of coli nikkas are those nikkas lets be real.

You answer the question with your first sentence. You should changed the thread title to black music in general. RnB is dead as well as Soul etc..
Nah soul is more neo soul now.
Paak, the internet, abra, jamila woods, steve lacy, greentea peng, Ari Lennox, SiR, even white groups like hotel ugly and still woozy have some soul vibes.

Soul actually evolved. Hip hop devolved

South Side Chicago to Nola
It’s all about producing a hot single not an album, also artist aren’t groomed and trained to be an actual artist, no dancing/showmanship, no depth of writing the list goes on

I blame Young Jeezy. Jeezy bytch ass made it cool to say "Im not a rapper Ima trapper" and bring in subpar lyrics to the game like that. From then on it just got worse. Now that fukk boy wears black turtle necks and is married to an Asian woman. I hate that bald headed sonova beeyotch with his beady little Barney Rubble eyes.
