You are trying to portray Kareem as a compiler who hung around forever. That is very misleading. The reality is that he was a dominant player.

6 MVPs. That says it all. More than anyone else. You can't do that and not be one of the most dominant payers in history.

As for your argument about 70s centers that he dominated: Kareem gave Wilt Chamberlain all he could handle. Wilt won some battles, Kareem won some. That's what happens when the titans clash. How about Bill Walton? Kareem regularly dropped 30-40 on Walton.

But forget about the 70s. Go watch tapes from the 80s and see how an old, balding, declining Kareem played against people like Artis Gilmore, Caldwell Jones, Darryl Dawkins. See how he regularly demanded double teams from the celebrated Parish-McHale Celtics front line.

To give you some perspective: the 1985 Finals featured two of the top ten players in history (Magic Johnson and Larry Bird) in the primes of their careers. And yet the player who demanded more attention from the defense than either of them, the player who took over and dominated the series was a 38-year-old Kareem. A flabby-and-sick Kareem a decade removed from his prime was the best player on the court. Think about it and let it sink in just how remarkable that is.

I can't believe he tried to discredit Kareem's competition nobody in the history of the game played with and against greater players then CAP. We he came in the game he was dueling against wilt,Willis reed, hondo, jerry west, elvin hayes( arguably the greatest pf ever), Nate Thurmond,Wes unseld( how you'll knock him for being 6'8 but praise rodman and draymond) ect, etc during his prime he battled moses(arguably top 10 all-time, artis Gilmore, Lanier, Walton, dr.j, the iceman, Archibald, Rick barry, Mcadoo, Cowens, Mcginnis and Walt Bellamy and during the later stages of his career he battled and gave the business to mchale, Parrish, Dream,Ewing, nique, drexler, mj, Lambeir and there's tons of names that I forgot to mention nobody's game was as transcending as CAP

MJ is the best

Kareem is in the same tier as MJ and Wilt though

Not sure how anyone can deny that

People who are trying to discredit Kareem for not being the best player on the late 80s Lakers teams:

Individual players don't have control over the talent that surrounds them. Was Kareem his own GM? Is it his fault that much of his prime (1975-79) was wasted without a talented supporting caste? Similarly, how can you blame him for winning on teams when he had the opportunity later on in his career when he had declined a bit?
He was also the Lakers best player for the first 3 titles.

They are discrediting Kareem because he is a legit rival to Jordan.

You got doofuses @YoungMonkeyCashMonkeyBoy who thinks Kareem is on the same level as Karl Malone.

Imma post what Wilt tol MJ

Mj was a wing...the NBA made the rules to make the game easier for Wings

Cap was a post player...NBA was banning dunks and making the game harder for the big guys

If I'm choosing a player in their prime to play for the Earth's freedom, I'm picking Cap

Generally speaking a top level perimeter player should have more effect on the game than a top level of post player.

:mjlol:.....no

The post player is the rim protector you can change the game without scoring.

The post player is closer to the basket = easier shots
