Gafford’s rookie deal ends after 2022-23 where he’s making under $2M.

So basically we paying him 10 mil a year over the next 4yrs, which is pennies in today's NBA for a defensive talent like this. Gafford is like a better Ben Wallace. No he's not better than Ben at his peak but I watched Ben develop since college at Virginia Union. Watched him everyday as a WIZARD and will never forget trading him for Ike Austin

Gafford at this point in his career is farther along than Ben was, has a higher ceiling. Just needs to get his stamina up to par and he'll be straight imo...

I’d keep Bryant if I was Sheppard. TB can stretch the floor and play the role Portis does for MIL.

Thomas is very happy in DC and has already developed a good relationship with gafford. Gafford isn't that great against large men. He can't even slow Embiid down. Thomas Bryant tries to match Embiid and had the ability to be effective offensively add defensively against bigs like that so it'll come down to matchups. Since he's coming off injury he'll have to earn his starting position back. We'll be better when he gets back. Trez will move to the 4 spot when TB comes back...
Solid backup, Troy Brown Jr has more upside but both players will be contributing bench players for their teams. Balanced deal imo
Gafford is starting bruh, and TBJ is fools gold bruh. I liked that Chandler fellow y'all gave us better. Troy looks like he's about to go off and then he just doesn't. He's not even on Satoransky's level, he's a click below that. Sorry bruh, y'all got fleeced in this trade :francis:
How the hell did this get its own thread??
Gafford is a defensive specialist. He can rebound (had 17 the other day in limited minutes) averaged just under 2 blocks per game last year but only played 17 min a game. He's averaging 5 every 48 minutes, and he's starting this year so his numbers will only go up. Locking him down for cheap will be recognized as a great deal by the end of this week. We play the nets on national television 10/25. He'll show you his worth on that day :handshake:

I like him, but offensively, Russ deserves so much credit for getting him to be that good.

Wizards have to move one of Gafford, TB or Trez though.

Solid deal. I really like Tommy and wish him success. Also really like Wes and watch his interviews and its night and day between him and Scotty as far as clarity.

The players also and this may sound funny, but I'm comparing to multiple interviews I've watched seem hyper intelligent this go around. Particularly Spence, Gafford, Kuzma, Beal. Deni and Rui are super mature. It's like a nice balance. The timing of this extension was perfect cause Gafford was thinking this year he has to go just hoop and try not to think of money. This makes it where he doesn't have to anymore. And justifies the work he put in this summer.

He and TB both have their pros and cons. TB got more size and is better offensively. And being that large and shooting the three like he does is special. Gaff isn't a behemoth but he's quick and can be special defensively. If they were combined into one person Itd almost be a hall of famer

I'm kinda curious if any of them can play an old school type four on spot occasions.

He won't play until the last 3 months of the season and then his contract is over. might be time to package him with bertains with a 1st and see what we can be get. We can use those savings to keep tezz.

Nah. Hutchison is not better than Troy.

And that's cool that Gafford is starting for Washington, he wouldn't be starting with Chicago because we have better players. Bulls don't need TBJ to start, and they aren't depending on him like that either. Gafford is a solid big who runs the floor, rebounds, and defends. His main issue is staying out of foul trouble, the refs used to screw him over with bs calls, hopefully that changes now that he's going to be featured more.

Troy Brown just needs to be an athletic 3&D guy for the Bulls off the bench right now, and we're perfectly fine with that.

This is another thing. The Bulls PGs sucked at setting up guys last year, so Gafford shined way more with Russ. You need a PG that'll look for him to maximize what you get from Gafford on offense. Defense and rebounding should be a constant with him tho.

Dinwiddie seems to have developed a chemistry with Gafford. Think we’ll get a lot of lobs

He better be worth it. You can get quality Centers for $5-7M in modern NBA. TBH Wiz are better off playing small with pace.

@#1 pick what do you think? Love reading your bball takes.
