As a Tigers fan, I have to correct these talking points. Verlander shoulda won the Cy Young in 2016 (I'll never get over those idiot voters giving it to Porcello. All of them should have lost their votes

); his ERA and WHIP in 2015 were 3.38/1.088; in 2017 he had a mediocre first half of the season. After his second start in July leading up to the trade, he was trending back towards dominance. His velocity never wavered either. He was always throwing mid-high 90s except when he had that oblique injury and surgery.
Every contender should have been trying to get him: Yanks, Cubs, Dodgers, Nats, etc.
