OP, I wholeheartedly agree with you.
I've volunteered at voting drives, volunteered in Barack Obama's reelection campaign in 2011-2012, woke up at 5AM on the weekends with my fellow black teenagers and canvassed ENTIRE SECTIONS OF THE CITY, organized community coalitions to curb gun violence & drug dealing and other events to improve police-citizen relations, volunteered with Bernie Sanders's campaign in 2016, got Miami-Dade Transit to organize free bus rides for South Dade County citizens to polling places for the 2016 election, helped organize town hall meetings at churches with representatives of the city/county so local citizens could air out their grievances with government & how we could come to better solutions on effective policies for the people & officials alike, unsuccessfully tried to support an ordinance that banned the sale of liquor in CDPs (census-designated places) with more than a third of the population under the poverty line.
I love the Coli, as I can have good conversation with a diverse group of black men & women from all walks of life, but as I grow older and look at my people I can't help but enter a state of deep sorrow. I don't know if it is hip-hop, or the crack epidemic ruining nikkas' brain functions, or people looking for knowledge and being duped by these Internet "woke" snake oil salesmen, but the lack of knowledge in our community and the fact that it is COOL to be ignorant/uneducated hurts my heart breh.
Add on to that that the ones that are educated/ possess critical thinking skills have a 60-70% chance of having the "I'm only worried about myself!/I want a piece of the pie!" mentality and you see how the black community is skruggling. And white supremacy is the root of ALL of this. Cacs have to go. They just gotta go.

Shot 3 times in the back while running away from his murderer, no weapon found on his person. The officer that killed him has a history of brutality and falsifying records. He's worked for at least 3 other police departments in the last 7 years. He was just sworn in hours before he killed that boy, because he was recently fired from his previous job for misconduct.
The murder, and the circumstances around it, of this young brother in particular, was not the point my post. (I'm pretty sure you understood that) However, you are entitled to reply to the post how you see fit.
Mr. Rose's name was just the first that came to mind, I could have inserted any number of Black men, women, or children to make the same point. The irony is, I could have used the murder of a young Black boy in 1955, a lynching, that was basically the catalyst for the Civil Wrongs Movement, as an example. That would just show how little progress the masses of Black have made under the government of this wicked beast of an oppressor.
