808 drum machine made Jazz, old school R&B, and old school Rock and Roll commercially obscelete

Now Auto-tune made Vocal music as a whole commercially obscelete

Auto tune ruined black voices and black talent. Its all processed and forced, which is the polar opposite of what black music stood for.

White people like those artists more than the white ones. :yeshrug:
The point is that Black people have always dominated the music industry in America relative to their numbers. Same thing in Cuba, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, etc

Now, if only this intellectual property could be monetized for the benefit of its creators.

In this week's Billboard Hot100, 43 songs are by black people.

The Hot 100 Chart | Billboard

That's 43% of all songs.

Black people are 12.7% of the population in the USA.

Therefore black artists are disproportionatly over represented in the music industry in the USA.

and 100% of the ownership is white so it's pretty pathetic.

R&B is still going strong.

Most of the artists that are making the old shyt are still touring and making money.

This is just like the 80s, when white pop started climbing and had Black people mad at even Whitney Houston because she crossed over... actually booing her at the Apollo.

R&B didn't die then, it actually took a left turn and made it's own lane, merging more with 70s soul and Hip Hop.

Modern R&B will attach to Black culture and take sprint away from the mainstream again.

The vultures will follow as usual.

Post some links

for those of us who will listen

ok

This was a bit of an assortment based on what nikkas say doesn't exist anymore. I left out my more alternative sounds from this list, to make it more palatable for The Coli. I could have gone left with this shyt, but these are mostly recognizable sounds that won't threaten the listener.

Autotune in the mid 2000s officially put R&B 6 feet under.

Then that electronic pop garbage took over.

Mainstream R&B was already going downhill before that, just like mainstream hip hop was dying.

From 2006 onwards, autotune and techno inspired songs permanently bodied quality traditional singers in the mainstream .

Eh not really he first 5 or 6 seasons had legit talent.

If you're talking the more recent seasons, well that led to it's ultimate demise.

Look at the winners & ones that stood out in those first 5 seasons (with the exception of Reuben Studdard)

Cac singing is now the standard
