Yeah I'm speaking more in general though generally speaking is this current era of r&b good?
Overall, not really. But I’m old too lol. So that goes back to my original point. Most Marvin Gaye fans (who were fans when his music was released, not younger cats who picked it up later) weren’t feeling 90s artist as much either. It was too vulgar for them. It was just “copying” older music too much in their eyes. They couldn’t sing as well. Etc.

The 20 somethings must like this current music, cuz they’re consuming it. :ld:

as far as the music goes hell yeah that baby baby please shyte was popping

folks keeping it a buck now more than ever & too much crying sounds out of place now

facts shyte used to be way wilder out in the streets but they put the suit on shined they shoes permed they hair up & sang them fukking love songs

facts ha

music shapes the narrative in reality not the other way around¿

you sure¿

radio is in the backseat now bro

the masses show what they are into with their voluntary attention

A lot of the rap nikkaz people like right now, that shyt was forced on them. Future was getting clowned when he first dropped Tony Montana. But people have been conditioned into liking that shyt. Hot bars and verses were replaced by auto tune and catchy hooks. It was a time when Tpain was the only person who could use autotune but biting got somehow sanctioned in the game so now everyone uses it along with who ever flow is currently popular along with the way their beats sound.

Like others will tell you it's good R&B out there if you search . The issue I feel is on the mainstream level & the "others" who have been let in.

Oh & Altho some are good why every female sound like Summer Walker :dwillhuh:

I done came across about 4 different new singers who all sound the same from voice to production to song writing
@dora_da_destroyer @ThiefyPoo y'all noticed this?

Thought I was the only one who noticed this. Good thing I have H.E.R., Solange, Jhené Aiko, Syd from The Internet, Tank and The Bangas, KALLITECHNIS, Lylo Gold, and Jorja Smith :blessed:

Shows like American Idol are one of the bigger reasons. It allowed inferior white singers to be pushed to the forefront from cac homes which led to the genre being watered down

Now that inferior sound isn't going anywhere

Eh not really he first 5 or 6 seasons had legit talent.

If you're talking the more recent seasons, well that led to it's ultimate demise.

following trend has always been a thing

if folks wanted bars then that'd be where the attention & numbers flow

whatever style you prefer you can find

invest your attention in that

Mainly same artists. Either tracks on their solo albums or they are features (Weeknd, DaBaby, Lil Baby, Drake, Roddy Rich, Meg the Stallion, Lil Uzi.
The Biggest Hits of All: The Hot 100's All-Time Top 100 Songs
The Hot 100's All-Time Top 100 Songs | Billboard

36% Black artists in the greatest hits of all time.

Black people make up 12.7% of the population of the USA.

Therefore black artists are disproportionatly over represented in the American music industry.

Following and biting are 2 different things. No other rap group sounded like Mobb Deep, Dogg Pound, Ball and MJG, Capone N Nore, OutKast, UGK or Blackstar. Now days you can't tell a NY rapper from a Southern one. It has never been like this. Only rappers who are allowed to really spit are Cole, Kendrick, Meek, Drake, Ross and Wale. Only 1 of those rappers is currently on the billboard 100.
