My favorite song of 2019 in ANY genre was

So there IS good R&B out there, even if it is on the alternative side at times. Dont just focus on the charts.

We were blessed in the 90s because the R&B songs we did like, were on the charts 80% of the time. Today, not so much. Today, you appreciate the gems you dig for or stumble upon. These threads help with that.

IMMIGRANT TETHERS
Did we let them take it or did they Debo us out of it?
well it doesn't help when respected black artist cosign these crackers and collab with them just for a check. When respected black artist start calling culture vultures out as a collective and don't take any money or nikka trinkets for a collab, they will start knowing their place.

I also thing in todays r&b, alot of these new artist just aren't mature enough to write songs that are up to par with the late 90 and early 00s. And if they are a great writer, they can't sing for shyt.

Lucky Daye is cool I guess, he can sing live. Miguel had the perfect package :dame:

and 100% of the ownership is white so it's pretty pathetic.
Blame white racism for that.

Race records made sense for white record labels, which had been losing market share with the introduction of radio. It was easier to exploit and underpay black artists than white ones. Many artists were put on records that gave them pseudonyms or left out their names entirely, which meant they weren’t able to parlay their recording careers into successful performing careers.

The few who did have royalty agreements didn’t have much chance of enforcing them. This led to shocking financial predicaments for artists like Bessie Smith, known as “Empress of the Blues.” Smith made Columbia millions of dollars, but she could not read and was never paid royalties.

It was a reminder of how white businessmen used black labor to line their pockets in a time of rampant discrimination.

We gave it up. It's just like Jazz. Music tastes change and white people rediscover something we came up with and discarded.
Maybe if black culture didn't throw R&B in the bushes in favor of shyt rap music and "turning up" then R&B would still be popular.
Y'all c00ns need to stop.

ok

This was a bit of an assortment based on what nikkas say doesn't exist anymore. I left out my more alternative sounds from this list, to make it more palatable for The Coli. I could have gone left with this shyt, but these are mostly recognizable sounds that won't threaten the listener.

Fax, R&B is far from dead, I don't know what folks be talking about. Also there's different styles of R&B that people like. That one stereotypical sound doesn't represent all of R&B.

Cursing in these RnB songs is :scust:

RnB should be appropiate enough to play in front of conservative people in yo family, like yo parents and grandparents and young children without worry.
Exactly.

You should be able to put it on at a bbq without offending the older people, women & children.

Lil' girls should NOT be hearing lyrics like "eat the booty like groceries" because they will repeat those same lyrics
