This at the bolded. I'm a big fan of Babyface's production work but some of the shyt he did for other artists didn't age too well.
Listened to a El Debarge album he produced the other day and it was mostlywith those beat kits .
Trap beats killed black music altogether.
The great white hopes.Remember when Macklemore and Iggy Azalea were gonna take over Hip Hop in 2014?
Adele, Sam Smith, Justin Timberlake, Ariana Grande (her R&B songs), none of them will ever take over R&B, it's still a black genre, sure they have success but white artists will never be the face or the standard of R&B ever.

I think that formula really goes back to the 90s. Another interesting thing is you had people like Queen Latifah , Lauryn Hill, Bobby Brown etc sining and rapping on the same track many years ago but it wasn't a clear distinction when they rapped then sung and now it's not and that is my beef. Biggie is another that did this from time to time.
true but they were still being R&B artists and they had the talent where the ones doing it today its more of an image and lauren was the only one great at it. The industry moved away from it cause they dont want to promote happy black love songs just the ratchet ass eating tracks and drill shyt
Queen Latifah wasnt great at it?

^^^^^^^
it’s a lot of good R&B out there. Music is just consumed differently these days.
nikkas love to bytch so
