nobody is saying it isn't southern but from the demographic of Richmond, nova, Norfolk and Newport news all seem and feel like east coast cities at least from my experience.

There really is no argument for why Virginia isn't the south.... it's been a Southern state historically,geographically and economically since the 1700's.

If it weren't for Missy Elliot,Clipse,Timbaland and Pharrell sounding atypical of other southern artists...nobody would even attempt to say it's not the South.

If ur using the Confederacy to boost ur claim for VA then WV ain't Southern (for obvious reasons). Culturally VA is fringe state... I remember going to VA and asking for sweet tea (a KNOWN Southern staple) and I got ice tea. Wtf?!?!
