Golovkin Promoter: Canelo Wants 65-35, We Want Fair 50-50 Split!

Canelo plans to fight on September 15th, as part of Mexican Independence Day weekend.

As previously reported on BoxingScene.com a few days ago, Golden Boy Promotions, who promote Canelo, are now looking for a new opponent after stating to various media members that Golovkin rejected the rematch.

According to Loeffler, Golovkin is simply looking for a better deal.

He says Canelo is holding firm on a 65-35 financial split - while Golovkin, as the unified champion, wants at least a 50-50 split. There was a split of 70-30 in the first contest.

Loeffler previously explained that Canelo gave Miguel Cotto a 55% share of the money back in 2015 - and the Golovkin fight did a bigger gate and a higher pay-per-view buyrate.

GGG is bullshyting if he wants 50/50 or nothing. My guess is it is negotiation tactics.

After the last fight and Canelo getting the rematch cancelled, GGG deserves more than the 70/30 he got past fight. I think if you can get 60/40 you have to make the fight.

50/50 ain't happening but 65/35 is kind of crazy too considering Canelo can't make the same level of money without GGG and it's his fault the rematch was originally cancelled.

The orinigial offer was 65/35. U get the split based on draw. Even with the cheating canelo still the much bigger draw so he gets the same spilt.
