I love Alabama. I went to college there & still visit from time to time.

How is Selma looking these days? Last time I was there was 2008, and I heard it hasn’t improved much. I remember hearing about a small HBCU in Selma that had to close a few years back

Selma is never going to change.
There is nothing there, and it is purposefully left withering on the vine.

The Blackbelt still has it's struggles. Selma just had too many people with too little opportunity. I guess a lot of people from there go to Montgomery to work though. I'm from Demopolis. It's just the same story. Not a lot of emphasis on putting industry in those areas to help push them forward. Or really, slow white folks that push against progress of the area even though it would make their families' lives better also. Plus, everybody already wants to move to the bigger cities in the state when they are young anyway....You pretty much have to if you want to go to college or get a decent start.

My family is rooted there, we branched out to Cali, NYC and Detroit.

Edit: not Demopolis, but close.

I like Canes, but I had Foosacklys for the first time a couple months ago, and then tenders were really good
My cousin just told me about that spot and I was like wtf kinda name is that? Never heard of it. Went and tried it, tenders were kinda spicy but not bad. Still ain’t beating Canes or Hattie B’s

I didn’t really get to check out the town like that..I was in the band at Bama State & we went to Selma High to do a performance. I remember seeing a Budweiser plant either there or on the way to Selma though. It’s not there anymore?

Do you think Birmingham will ever get a professional team?

Another 20 or so years of growth & they might.

I just don’t see South Carolina, Mississippi, Arkansas or Bama getting a pro sports team anytime soon
