Spades Of Aces
The Infinity Watcher
Caught up to latest episode of Gundam Mercury. Watching this show is like watching paint dry on the wall. I’m giving a chance because I like Gundam in general. But man, this one is a chore to get through so far.
I usually would give you shyt for watching that but it's really short, maybe a mini arc transition and it gives a lot of context to the classes of Hollows. Doesn't hurt that it gave Rukia some shine, which doesn't happen often.I always know it’s Bleach filler when they have these wack ass villains pop up, but I gotta say Ashido was kinda cool. I think he would have been a cool character in the series.

They had a unique opportunity with Suletta, she was a fresh take on a Gundam pilot. The entire premise of taking a SOL angle in a dark setting like the Gundam universe was a novel balancing act as they did some world building and character introductions. Unfortunately it's stalled out now and everyone is just waiting for something, anything to happen to push the story forward. I'm sure it will considering the events of the last episode but it's verging on too late.Catching up with Gundam Mercury. This is the first Gundam that I really don’t resonate with any of the characters. Im indifferent with the entire cast. Especially the protagonist.

She's definitely getting some real spotlight in Hueco Mundo though, so keep your eyes open.

It's on gogo, I just googled itAbout to dig into the Oshii catalogue again. Love 80-90’d anime aesthetics vs the modern CGI stuff.
I think I’ll find Wicket City today though. No idea where to stream it.
It's kind of a given Part one's final episode will end on some form of cliffhanger. Potentially it could be a nasty one. But they are going with part one being the setup for this show and part two to be the execution. I do get why many on here don't enjoy the SoL stuff. But the purpose is to build up the characters which is done really well. While I do respect the fact that the Gundam creators are trying something new with Mercury, it’s just falling flat so far. I’m waiting for show to bear it’s fangs but I can tell it’ll be a slow burn but it just feels so strange that I’m really not feeling much of anything about this show as the visuals and music are good, it’s more or less the story and characters aren’t very interesting.
. It def feels like a case of a story overstaying its welcome when a clear ending and conclusion was available for the taking. This is how I would rank each part.Because there's a very heavy shounen bias on here. IBO faces similar resistance but personally I feel like so far IBO has been the better Gundam show. It had better more interesting characters than this.I do get why many on here don't enjoy the SoL stuff.
Lmao I ain’t know it was filler until I looked. I thought it was canon until I seen how badly designed the villains were.I usually would give you shyt for watching that but it's really short, maybe a mini arc transition and it gives a lot of context to the classes of Hollows. This is an excellent breakdown for the series thus far. I can't point at one thing that I disagree with here. As a lifelong fan of the franchise, it's a given that I'm going to stick with it through the conclusion of this first season. I just want them to deliver on the potential and get out of neutral. It's kind of a given Part one's final episode will end on some form of cliffhanger. Potentially it could be a nasty one. The issue here though is that we know the final episode is in 2 weeks. And we know a part two is coming after a cour break. Imo Gundam itself works better if part 1 and part 2 of season one is aired continuously unlike other shows were a full arc makes up 1 cour's worth of episodes. Which makes the expected cliffhanger a little predictable. Tho the contents of what it could be does really interest me.
- Suletta I got no idea what to think of, is she a clone of Eri similar to how Elan has clones? Or is there something else entirely? If you look at the other members in the cast who have clear motivations, she just seems to just be going with the flow I guess? Next episode could be telling for her.
- Similarly with Elan, despite having a good amount of screentime we have no idea what his end game is since the real him is never the one we see outside of his appearance at the party.
- Miorine has probably been the best developed character in the show so far. Going from a scared princess who continued to run away. To now running as the face of her company and her dealing with her father who she loathed. Only issue with her character she is more of a corporate head, so when shyt hits the fan soon her impact will be lessened.
- Guel's character is weird in the sense. He has lost everything and is starting from the ground up. Lots of different direction they can take his character going forward.
- Shaddiq is turning into a really interesting manipulative antagonist of sorts. Despite being a student using various people and connections to get where where we are at this point in the story is impressive. The weird part of him not caring if Miorine lives or not in his upcoming attack kind of shows he can be heartless.
- Nika is a character of sorts that feels we will learn more on. Altho it does feel like she has a sad coming up and I assume she has connections to the head of the terrorist group. There is a lot of guild you can see in her face in many scenes.
- Lastly with Suletta's mom and Delling (Miroine's father). It feels like despite being adversaries they might actually be working together potentially? Delling initially being a villain actually helping his daughter is one thing not many would have expectation. Also Suletta's mother being so different then she was in the prologue. She genuinely seemed like a caring mother and wife. But so far she seems like a manipulative bytch, who has concern of the situations Suletta has been thrusted into.
I know very few people that don't like IBO. It's easily one of the best entries in the franchise.Because there's a very heavy shounen bias on here.
