its slow (not quite monster slow) but damn near every line has a significance to it. its draining to watch, no lie. especially at first
every name that pops up, every location, battle, strategy, disagreement has its own relevance and weight. i think i went braindead during the pre-war portion lol
So no one can recommend me a good mecha anime?

My favs are gundam 0079 Unicorn gundam, code geass and Majestic prince , as well Line Barrels of iron. Oh I also dug Aldnoah. zero.
The original SDF Macross? 08th MS Team, Gundam Thunderbolt (newer) and Iron Blooded Orphans (newer too).
If you can stomach Aldnoah, you can actually lower your bar a bit lol. I enjoyed it, but thought it was consistently dumb as fukk after the first episode. Just fukkery for the sake of fukkery.
If you never saw Evangelion its absolutely worth a watch (whether you love it or hate it, you'll be entertained guaranteed)
Saw NGE not a,fan. Can't sit through Macross and I really want to like it. I might try Armored Trooper votoms. 08th ms and IBO were both dope.
so what else have you seen because i mean.... there's niche stuff out there but i don't actually like recommending blue gender or full metal panic off the cuff like that. even build fighters is rough to recommend because its straight up all about fights in giant robots. some people want more - and that's the confusion. if you want a good show honestly, you can't be holding to the mecha front too hard because that shyt is almost always about moving toys and model kits before anything else.

I've seen blue gender and liked it FMP had too much hs romance crap in it. Build fighters just didn't work for me. Have you ever seen Zegpain?

You could check out break blade/iron blood orphans, it was alright to watch.
On another note, I'm watching Koi to Uso and wondering where's the plot at?
