I had no idea it did bad :ohhh: they had a small amount of episodes to work with

How'd they get the greenlight for the movie?
I mean it was more so Japanese fandom hating S1 direction. To them they didn’t like it being more realistic, cinematic and toning down the comedy.

I feel they realized how big CSM is and if they catered it being more faithful to the manga they would win that crowd back. Look at the early movie numbers that seems to be the case.

A question for anybody who went to see
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle. Did yall watch Dubbed or Subbed? Do they actually have subbed in America? I really want to see the movie with subbed.
I watched it subbed

Most anime movies come with subbed or dubbed options when you buy tickets. I've been able to catch most movies subbed for years now

I can see that, had they included this arc in the first season people would've had a full scope of what the show was gonna be about

Tryna pace it like demon slayer ain't gonna work

I guess with how S1 flopped, MAPPA wanted to make sure to win good favor with the Japanese fanbase, which makes sense.

Though the Reze arc should have been the last part of S1. Then we would be having S2 now. But it is what it is at this point.

S1 was not a literal failure but Mappa executives came out and admitted they did not see the return they expected in the huge investment they made in CSM when they bought the rights (or whatever the correct legal term is) to not only adapt the show but also get to profit from merch sales and other stuff.

Mappa thought they had a gold mine in their hands -and they kinda did, tbh- and spent a fukk ton of money on the IP. And S1 ended up being your regular top shonen of the season, not a Demon Slayer or JJK jackpot hit, and that was what the company was expecting at first.

What MAPPA did was count its chickens before they hatched. They assumed CSM would blow up like that, and tbh both SxF & CSM were the most recent HUGE manga that didn't have anime. But SxF like all the popular shounen put out 2 cours to gather that fanbase.

I assume Mappa saw the chapter count of part 1 and, wanting to take things slowly bit by bit. That doesn't work. They should have done what Mappa did with S1 and the JJK 0 movie and had them airing in the same year with CSM S1 and the Reze movie. Or put out a 2 cour season 1 like all of the popular shounen manga.

Well, the thing is, with the CSM movie being a hit, I read that they will earn more money from it than UFO with Demon Slayer and how much they got from JJK 0.

Although the series popularity has been on a downward fall since S1 came out. Mappa basically bought stocks on CSM when it was at its highest.

Call of the Night S2 wrapped up, and it was great. Would give 9/10. Really delivered on the best arc and the themes in the two main arcs. More stuff in comparison to the manga.

This adapted chapter 97 and basically the rest is anime original. Though I swear the maid cafe scene does happen later in the manga, or I am mixing things up.

Considering there was no S3 greenlit, how they did things makes sense because with how chapter 99 goes (98 is skipped), it would be a dikk move to end things there for anime-onlies. Though in a perfect world where S3 gets announced, that would be the perfect chapter to end things off, but alas, we are not there.

I give S2 9/10 because I think it was great in many ways,, and while I understand why they cut the Lira stuff, something was bound to get the short end of the stick. It was good content that was skipped that I recommend anime-onlies to check out.
I was actually disappointed with the last 2-3 eps. Felt like the climax of what they were building since S1 wasn't that satisfying. The detective having such a dumb plan -at least it's acknowledged by everyone how bad it was- and having to pick her back up to avoid a suicide was a very interesting twist but I felt it kinda went nowhere. And even though the characters are telling me Nanakuza has changed, I don't really see it?

Like, I love character pieces and character driven shows but this felt flat as hell if that was what they were going for. The whole 2nd half of this season felt like a bump in the road instead of a huge impactful event that would mold the characters in a new way.

You are 100% right because the ending of this arc leads into the 2nd major arc of the series. The problem is this arc lasts for, like, 7 volumes, as this season adapted 5 volumes. (6-10) I assume S3 wasn't greenlit yet, which is why they tried to make the ending more conclusive than what it really is. Obviously as a manga reader I get why they did, but I get why anime-onlys might feel it's awkward.

With that being said, if S3 greenlights it, HAS to adapt the rest of the manga. As stated, the major arc is 7 volumes, and there is no way the season is not 2 cours.

If you don't care for minor spoilers. S3, if it happens, will start with chapter 99, which is where they decide to go after the vampire that turned Anko's father. Next season will have more action than previous scenes, but it doesn't suddenly change genres like some people say it does.
