Philly has top ranked restaurants as well and a food scene is about the food as a whole, not a select few at the top. You're a fool or haven't been to Philly if you think it just has sandwiches and pizza. DC is mediocre as a food city, deal with it
I disagree that DC has bad food it has good food and even better in the suburbs but it just lacks good AND affordable options
But you are absolutely correct Philly is Lowkey one of the best cities for food
This is a sold list. Oohs and Ahhs is so rich though. Eat one meal and you be good for a day and a half.Oohs and Ahhs

There’s a lot of new shyt that came in 2021-2022 though it was much different than when I first start going to dchell no, i lived on H st for 1.5 yrs and lived in Philly for 2. Philly has one of the best food scenes around.
Your tripping I moved from DC to Boston and it is in no way fukking with DC. They onlh staple is seafood and it’s the bland kind.i didn't say it had bad food, i think it's mediocre, especially given it's stature. IMO, it's a tier 3 food city, on the east coast alone i'd put it behind NY, Philly, Baltimore and possibly Boston
Word. There was a soul food spot on Columbus Ave in Roxbury/south end that was aight back in the day but everything else there was trash.Your tripping I moved from DC to Boston and it is in no way fukking with DC. They onlh staple is seafood and it’s the bland kind.
lol @ the bland kind...seafood isn't meant to be smothered in sauce or cajun seasoning/old bay.Your tripping I moved from DC to Boston and it is in no way fukking with DC. They onlh staple is seafood and it’s the bland kind.
Jinya is a chain spot. Check out Toki Underground or Daikoku instead
lol you a hater but I don’t eat seafood only fish. I’ve legit only had like 3 spots that I say damn I’ll go back there out of all the places I’ve beenlol @ the bland kind...seafood isn't meant to be smothered in sauce or cajun seasoning/old bay.
The accuracyI think DC does pretty good with "high end" Black Owned Places. Even white boys make some of the stuff (Bammy's for instance).
I have yet to go to Bronze, but every time I hit a "Congressional Black Caucus Clientele" type spot, it's not that "tasty".
To me, there's at least 3 different DC's living right next to each other (haven't touched the Indians/Asians out in the burbs, or Salvadorans who are everywhere, but their food just ain't inspire no one. Koreans used to have to open Sushi spots to make money, Salvadorans pretend to be Mexicans...)
I
- The Black Transplant Version - We have a good # of high dollar places, but I have yet to go to one of them and want to return.
- The White Transplant Version - Where the best food is usually "New American", "South East Asian", Asian Fusion, and Modern Latin American. Where spots can be packed every night, can't get a reservation, and then close under weird circumstances.
- The Black Long Time Resident Version - AKA The Real DCaka Chocolate City - aka The Forgotten DC. - For me this was spots like
- Mr Ps BBQ in the School Bus off of Rhode Island NE.
- Chicken Wings and Mumbo Sauce.
- That one brunch in Silver Spring that you could meet AKAs at.
