Star Power has to be built up with solid sustained booking. In NXT they're able to take virtual nobodies and get them over as stars, they can do the same with the guys on the main roster.

Fans want to be invested in guys like Apollo Crews, Dolph Ziggler, The Usos, American Alpha, and the Cruiserweights, but they're not being given a reason to care. All the resources are poured into match time and skits for main eventers......or those stupid skits for whatever comedy act Vince is infatuated with at the time.
Oh I feel everything you are saying I'm just saying from a quality standpoint they don't currently have the stars for a brand split.

True, with the last brand split they had a good amount of proven stars to help transition to the younger guys coming in. Cena, Orton, Batista, and even Brock were all attached to bigger stars in order to get them over.

Punk and DB low-key exposed the rest of these indy darlings, excluding Styles. They ain't shyt compared to those three.
To be fair styles punk and db are all around all time great talents who were obsessed with being better then everyone and undeniably were seen as the best in the world even before wwe

Guys like Kenny omega or Austin Aries or whomever else was big around that time all are wishy washy or niche as fukk by comparison

Jon Moxley Tyler black Chris hero Kevin steen el generics etc are solid in wwe but never had that same connection the three aforementioned guys had with the fans. Cm punk was on par with triple h before he stepped in the wwe and his angle sin ring of honor cemented that before he joined the ovw and even there with the help of Paul Herman carried that momentum to ecw and even their he carried it even farther despite his in ring work not translating just yet back then. Once he got to go heel on smackdown and he himself he sky rocketed and gave us that magnum opus pipe bomb and one of the greatest organic storylines ever culminating at money in the bank

Bryan was a fukking whirlwind who put in work in the indies and delivered some of the best matches I've ever saw live and when he got to wwe he slowly won the fans over no matter the circumstance. Being teamed with Kane became a blessing regardless of how shytty and bytch made a lot of his fans became and at to that he lost to sheam da gawd at mania in 7 seconds he go that battery in his pack and took off despite imo his work rate regressing outside of matches with cena and Bryan became a move spamming spot moneky he got a revolutionary reaction

Aj on the other hand was like wrestling Jesus and is exactly how sting would or should have been treated if he would have joined wwe 10 years earlier then he did. One of the greatest rumble entrances and a top three debut in to the wwe in one night, one of the greatest first year runs in wrestling history on par with angle and rock, and he fans rode with him as a face or heel no matter what even though all faith they had in wwe to sabotage Aj was nullified when Aj proved he is the greatest American pro wrestler of the past 10 years hands down

I think the only guy left of that ilk is shinsuke nakamura who could go on any wrestling show right now and be not only the most interesting guy as a face or heel but the best worker in the world albeit at worst top 10

Everyone else has obvious flaws that keep them from reaching those threes levels despite how hard we romantically remember those early 2000 Indy darlings

Some of those indy darlings just aren't as good as we originally thought. For all the love Cesaro gets people love to ignore how luke warm of a reception he gets from most fans. His matches are dope, but his character is bland as fukk.

This by a thousand
I may shyt on guys but I never understand why people act like they aren't shyt on able

Cesaro is not better then majority of the mid card jiggas from the early 2000s simply because he is boring as dog food and can't cut a compelling promo to save a segment or his life

Owens is miles better then most of the guys but he's built like a can of vernors. Add his charisma to cesaro and you got a beast. Hats basically what Aj styles is, a guy whose in better shape then dudes half his age at Owens height yet can or work everyone in the world and arguably majority of the 90s guys hat have been propped up.

Rollins has all the tools to be great yet he's still only seen as regular by comparison. 6'1, great shape, can wrestle multiple styles, decent on the mic, yet nothin about him transcends despite being given more booking wise then mos guys. It is a testament to greatness that 87 year old Chris Jericho is more compelling then nearly everyone on the roster today simply with just a scarf, a list, and a microphone

You could put styles, Bryan, punk, Jericho, etc in any role on any partner of the card and they captivate and entertain you to no ends

Punk on commentary? Hilarious and witty
Jericho hosting a tv show segment? Show stealing
Bryan as a non performing gym? Great

Give dolph Cesaro any one of these segments and its average or even trash

Extinct
  • Lack of cohesive storyline
  • Living in the past
  • No progression beyond the 90s glory days
  • No element of surprise
  • ADHD booking
  • ADD pushes
  • Treating the fans like their lower common denominators
  • The continuance of having a carny mindset
  • No focus on the title>>>>wrestler
  • More emphasis on wrestler>>>title
  • Promos not selling the wrestler
The last bullet point really is the main problem with professional wrestling. Exhibit A:

Tully Blanchard. Midcarder indeed, but man he didn't carry that label with him because this promo made him larger than life. Class, flash and flare with just verbal arrangement. This is how you suppose to cut promos. Make the audience understand why you the shyt, the smell, and the texture. The problem with the promos nowadays is that the wrestlers are spewing bullshyt instead of selling the illusion that they are in character and that their character is real. How in the living hell I'm suppose to take a Roman Reigns promo seriously if he's licking his lips like Cool James, glancing in the camera like a Gap model, and talking about kicking somebodies ass in a mack your girl type of voice:gucci:?

I legit hate Dolph Ziggler at this point. People always talk about him not getting a fair shake but if you look back on it WWE gave that fukker multiple opportunities to get over huge and he hasn't been able to sustain any momentum he's been given. Anybody else would have switched their gimmick up by now, but NOOOO, Dolph being doing the same "showoff" bullshyt for the past 5 years like that shyt is going to magically click with fans one day.

Can you imagine if guys like Dolph and Cesaro had the creativity of a guy like Miz? People love to shyt on Miz sometimes but dude has gained my respect. He's had the deck stacked against him since he debuted and he's continually overcame shyt to become a top star in the company, they knock him down back to the lower mid card and he just reinvents himself and works his way back up to the top and all the while he's quietly been turning into a better and better worker. Miz is low key the best heel in WWE right now.

Miz should be who most these guys strive for versus everyone wants to be hbk or the rock etc
Mix carved his own one and is never gonna be known as a great in ring worker but what he did was cater to what he was great at - being unlikeable but charismatic as fukk

I can believe mike is no different then the miz simple because he plays his character and his strengths up so well.

Cesaro is more Benoit than Jericho/Eddie/etc. he gets a very good reception from the fans, but eventually, the fans will get the notion that the WWE won't completely give you the ball and will give up on you. (see: Dolph at various times)

Miz has become the greatest tough enough competitor of all time because he played to this strengths and stayed in his lane. Everybody else but Miz is still going and has a Wrestlemania main event under his belt. Even as a worker I think he's underrated because he actually works as a heel, he's not out there doing moves that are going to make the crowd pop. He works a style that pisses fans off and makes them cheer on the baby face.
